For spring, these are the ten books prioritized at the top of my TBR Mountain. I finished all ten books from my Winter TBR; no DNFs….although one came close.
For this Spring TBR, there are a mix of genres and a couple of ARCs, and I’m hoping for some winners here. Have you read any of these or is one on your TBR?
I never plan more than ten titles for my quarterly TBR lists because I need to leave time for mood reading and review commitments. These ten books (in no particular order) are a priority on a much longer general TBR.

What is your most anticipated read this spring?
I’m linking up today with That Artsy Reader Girl for Top Ten Tuesday: Spring 2025 To Be Read List.

Spring 2025 TBR
(in no particular order)
Tilt by Emma Pattee (ARC)

Genre: Contemporary Fiction
WHY: (ARC) I live on the west coast of the United States, which is susceptible to earthquakes, so I feel compelled to read this. Annie @ From the Front Porch podcast gives it a good review. Pub Date: 3/25/2025.
***UPDATE: 4 Stars. After all the drama, the ending was too open-ended for my taste, and I was left with many unanswered questions. My full review here.
The Resistance Girls by Alice G. May (ARC)

Genre: Historical Fiction (WWII)
WHY: (ARC) I’m intrigued by the roles women played in WWII, especially in the Resistance. Pub Date: 4/22/2025
***UPDATE: 4 Stars. Page-turning with a side of suspense. My full review here.
The Widow’s Irish Secret by Susanne O’Leary

Genre: Contemporary Women’s Fiction
WHY: I’ve read the first three installments of the Magnolia Manor series for #ReadingIrelandMonth25, and I want to finish the series with this fourth one. Pub Date: 4/30/2025
***UPDATE: 3.5 Stars. Nice conclusion to the series. Full review here.
What Happened to the McCrays? by Tracey Lange

Genre: Contemporary Fiction
WHY: FOMO (but I’m a bit nervous because I’m not sure if it’s complicated family drama or dysfunctional family drama….if the characters are unlikable, it will be a DNF)
***UPDATE: 4 Stars. The writing is excellent, but, as I suspected, the main character wasn’t especially likable. Her husband deserved better. My full review here.
The Homemade God by Rachel Joyce (ARC)

Genre: Literary Fiction
WHY: (ARC) I’m a Rachel Joyce completist (I’ve started this and it may be too dysfunctional for my taste). Pub Date: June 24, 2025
***UPDATE: 4 Stars (because Rachel Joyce). The story is too bleak for my taste. Dysfunctional family, damaged children. Skimmed a great deal. A definite departure from her quirkier characters. Review coming on pub day.
The Lost Story of Eva Fuentes by Chanel Cleeton (ARC)

Genre: Historical Fiction
WHY: (ARC) I’ve become a Cleeton fan! The House on Biscayne Bay, The Cuban Heiress, The Most Beautiful Girl in Cuba, Our Last Days in Barcelona, and The Last Train to Key West reviews.
Pub Date: 9/30/2025
***UPDATE: 4 Stars. Not my fav Cleeton work, but an engaging story by a solid author. Review coming on pub day.
Wedding Bells for the East End Library Girls by Patricia McBride

Genre: Historical Women’s Fiction
WHY: I’m a completist for this series. Pub Date: April 2, 2025
***UPDATE: I must have had the pub date wrong, or they pushed it back. Publishing in August, so I will need to carry this over to my Summer TBR.
Dear Writer by Maggie Smith (ARC)

Genre: Nonfiction, Essays
WHY: (ARC) I loved Bird by Bird and this sounds similar. I’m not a “writer,” but I write, so I hope this will be practical! Pub Date: April 1, 2025.
***UPDATE: 3 Stars. I’m sure this will be a 5-star read for the right reader. I didn’t realize that it’s heavily weighted towards poetry. It was interesting in sections, but not applicable to my writing. I posted a brief review on Goodreads. I found Bird by Bird more useful for general writing inspiration.
One Good Thing by Georgia Hunter

Genre: Historical Fiction
WHY: I loved the author’s debut We Were the Lucky Ones.
***UPDATE: 5 Stars. Another WWII histfic winner from Hunter! Set in Spain, this is a story of survival and saving a child. Hunter writes the best conclusions! My full review here.
The Rushworth Family Plot by Claudia Gray (ARC)

Genre: Historical (cozy) Mystery
WHY: (ARC) I’ve read the first three installments in this series. Pub Date: 6/17/2025
***UPDATE: 3.5-4 Stars. Claudia Gray is the master of slowest of slow-burn romance and Austenesque stories. The tone and setting is just right. Review coming on pub day.

Happy Reading Book Buddies!
โAh, how good it is to be among people who are reading.โ
~Rainer Maria Rilke
โI love the world of words, where life and literature connect.โ
~Denise J Hughes
โReading good books ruins you for enjoying bad ones.โ
~Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
โI read because books are a form of transportation, of teaching, and of connection! Books take us to places weโve never been, they teach us about our world, and they help us to understand human experience.โ

Nice post ๐ ๐
I’ve got the Rachel Joyce book too. Hopefully it will improve for you! Happy Spring Reading! ๐ท๐
Itโs really different from her usual. Verdict is still out!
Looks like a fab TBR, Carol!
Thanks! ๐ค
I’m delighted to see that Dear Writer is coming out soon. I will look for that one.
Hoping to be inspired!
Awwwh. I love dysfunctional especially if there’s some remedy or healing involved that’s believable! Hope you enjoy these, I love seeing all the Irish books!
Itโs the hopelessly dysfunctional that is so depressing!
Tilt does sound like a good read!
The Homemade God looks interesting! Hope you enjoy them all.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Itโs different from her previous work! Thanks for stopping by!
I haven’t read any of these books, but The Rushworth Family Plot and The Widow’s Irish Secret look amazing! I hope you’ll love all these books when you read them ๐

I’m just finding some of your comments….for some reason, some comments do not show up on the ipad app and I find them on the laptop version. WordPress is weird and glitchy sometimes!
A new Chanel Cleeton! I had trouble with the latest one so gave it back, but I’m not yet calling that a dnf–it may just not have been the right moment. I’ll definitely try this one.
All her books differ so always good to give it a try!
The family ones were my favorites.
The Claudia Gray series looks really fun! I need to take a closer look at it. I hope you enjoy all these!
Happy TTT!

The romance arc is taking forever! ๐
Great list Carol, and some beautiful covers! Happy Reading!
The Rachel Joyce book looks really good! (My book group will be reading another of her books this spring, but I’ll note this one for future reading!). I need to catch up with the Claudia Grey books — I”ve only read the first, but it was really fun, and I’d like to keep going. Hope you enjoy all of these!
So many books to keep up with!
I hope you enjoy the McCrays, Carol. I didn’t find it dysfunctional. There is one damaged character, but there is a redemption arc. I didn’t know there was another East End Library Girls book coming out. I will wait and get if from the library so I don’t add to my NG shelf. I will be reading the Chanel Cleeton and Susanne O’Leary books. I hope you enjoy all of these reads Carol and that the Rachel Joyce book improves for you.
My library hold of McCrays just came in! ๐ค๐ค Opinion still out on Joyceโฆ.so different from her usual.
