My Summary:
Thanks #NetGalley @BerkleyPub #BerkleyBuddyReads for a complimentary eARC of #CodeWordRomance upon my request. All opinions are my own.
Max happens to resemble Europe’s youngest female prime minister, Sofia Christensen. When Sophia receives a death threat, the CIA offers Max a life-changing amount of money if she pretends to be Sophia on her trip to Italy. Complications arise when Max’s handler turns out to be Flynn, the man who broke her heart years ago. Max must pull off the impersonation because her life is on the line, but can she lose her heart to Flynn again? It’s all risky.
My Thoughts:
Tropes
Because romance is a part of the story line, you might enjoy knowing the tropes. They include opposites attract, fake-dating, forced proximity, and second-chance (slow-burn) romance.
Romance and Much More
In addition to romance, there is suspense, intrigue, twists and turns, an Italian get-away, witty banter, mystery, and danger.
Page-Turning Plot
Max desperately needs the promised payout and wants to keep living (i.e. avoid an assassination). Is she clever enough to achieve both? Throw in a second-chance romance and the story moves along at a brisk pace. If you’re looking for an escapist read, this might provide the entertainment you need.
Recommending Code Word Romance:
I like a romance (rom-com) with more going on than just romance, and this delivers a page-turning, unique plot with some of my favorite tropes. An engaging beach or pool read.
My Rating: 4 Stars

Thank you for another well-written review, Carol. I love following along.
Thanks for your kind words and encouragement!
This sounds cute! I like the sound of the politic intrigue elements mixed into a trope-y romance. Great review!
Thanks! It was entertaining!
I have seen this one around, but wasn’t sure about it. I’m glad I read your review, as now I will see if my library has this one. I think it was the cover that turned me off initially.
Interesting premise!
