What’s on your Spring 2024 TBR? Share your most anticipated read in the comments.

For spring, these are the ten books prioritized at the top of my TBR Mountain. I finished six books from my Winter TBR; I had a record high of four DNFs! (I blame mood reading)
For this Spring TBR, there are a mix of genres and a couple of ARCs, and I’m hoping for some winners here. Have you read any of these or is one on your TBR?
My most anticipated read is James by Percival Everett.
I never plan more than ten titles for my quarterly TBR lists because I need to leave time for mood reading and review commitments. These ten books (in no particular order) are a priority on a much longer general TBR.

Family, Family by Laurie Frankel
Genre: Contemporary Fiction, Family Life
WHY: I’m reading good reviews of this one, and I love a complicated family drama. Also, the theme of adoption always interests me.

James by Percival Everett
Genre: Literary Historical Fiction, A Classic Reimagined
WHY: I’ve never read anything by Percival Everett and I need to remedy that. Also, a reimagining of Huckleberry Finn from Jim’s POV intrigues me. My most anticipated read.

Evacuees at the Wartime Bookshop by Lesley Eames
Genre: Historical Fiction, WWII Home Front
WHY: I love this series and characters, so I’m eager for installment #4

***UPDATE: I didn’t receive an ARC so I’ll purchase the book and move it to my summer TBR.
Frank & Red by Matt Coyne
Genre: Contemporary Fiction
I’ve read soooo many good reviews of this multigenerational story of friendship from bloggers I trust. I’m disappointed that it’s not available yet for Kindle or from the library, so I will wait patiently and move it to the summer or fall TBR if necessary.
***UPDATE: I sampled this and decided not to read it (unnecessary profanity and an innappropriate joke about putting a gun to your mouth to kill yourself….just not to my taste)
Table For Two by Amor Towles
Genre: Literary Fiction, Short Story Collection
WHY: It’s Amor Towles (Gentleman in Moscow) and I enjoy an occasional short story collection, so I want to give this a try.

***UPDATE: DNF at 60%….short stories were ok…some better than others…but I lost interest in the novella….overall, underwhelmed.
The House on Biscayne Bay by Chanel Cleeton (ARC)
Genre: Hstorical Fiction
WHY I’ve become a Cleeton fan! The Cuban Heiress, The Most Beautiful Girl in Cuba, Our Last Days in Barcelona, and The Last Train to Key West reviews.

Effie Olsen’s Summer Special by Rochelle Below (ARC)
Genre: Contemporary Women’s Fiction, Romance
WHY: I was offered the ARC and it seems like a fun, light romance, so I’m taking a chance.

***UPDATE: 3 Stars. Way too steamy/spicy for my taste. The story is good but I don’t recommend it unless you are OK with OPEN DOOR ROMANCE (I skipped over the bedroom scenes but I would have DNFed it if I hadn’t committed to a review).
Mrs. Quinn’s Rise to Fame by Olivia Ford
Genre: Women’s Fiction
WHY: I love stories with well-seasoned characters, so I’ll give this a try.

The Ukraine by Artem Chapeye
Genre: Fiction/Nonfiction; short story/essay collection
WHY: Stories and essays about the people and country of Ukraine by a Ukranian author piqued my interest, especially since he’s serving in the war.

Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan
Genre: Women’s Contemporary fiction
WHY: I’ve enjoyed two Annabel Monaghan titles (Same Time Next Summer and Nora Goes Off Script), so I’ll try a third.

***UPDATE: 4 Stars. LOVE this one! Likeable and relatable characters, closed-door sweet romance. (Monaghan is my new auto-buy author!) Review of Summer Romance here.

But I agree, I need to get hold of Table for Two, by Amor Towles!
Watch the new movie adaptation of Color Purple and call it good. The book is good but so sad. You’ll probably want to read it though because it’s a classic. Oh, a new Enger book?! I’m intrigued! And How to Read a Book sounds like something I’d like! I wish I had added it to my spring tbr. Maybe I’ll start my summer list with it! So many books, so little time! Just this morning I thought about deleting my entire “to read” shelf on goodreads and starting over! Thanks for sharing Susie!
HI, Carol – Thank you for sharing these anticipated reads. Although I still haven’t quite forgiven Amor for his ending of otherwise brilliant “A Gentleman in Moscow,” I may give “Table for Two” a try. I am currently half way through “Medicine Wheel for the Planet” that will be releaed at the end of this month. It is a highly thought-provoking read on numerous levels.
LOL! I mostly loved the ending of GiM because it picked up the pace nicely! But it was a bit open ended as I recall. It will be interesting to see how he fares with short stories! Thanks for the rec for Medicine Wheel…I’ll check it out!
I only have a couple of these on my TBR, but some of the others interest me. I am definitely intrigued by James. Huck Finn from Jim’s POV is definitely something I would be interested in. I hope you enjoy all of these, Carol. Hopefully Frank and Red will be published in North America soon.
