April 2024 reading is a wrap! Did you have a productive reading month?
April 2024 Reading Wrap Up
I had an OK reading month. I did read 3 Middle Grade stories (titles collected during Middle Grade March). Lots of 4 Star reads in April but not one 5 Star read. Out of 12 books completed, I had one 4.5-star read, nine 4-star reads, and two 3.5-star reads.
My most memorable fiction read in April is The Holiday Cottage by Sarah Morgan (ARC) which I won’t be reviewing until September.

The Holiday Cottage by Sarah Morgan
4.5 Stars. (ARC) Contemporary Women’s Fiction. I connected to this story for so many personal reasons. Stories we connect to are always the most memorable, amirite? Review: 9/24/24.
Operation: Happy by Jenni L. Walsh (MG)
4 Stars. Middle Grade Historical Fiction. WWII. Pearl Harbor & San Francisco. Complicated Family Drama. You’ll love the dog! My review of Operation: Happy here.
Starfish by Lisa Fipps (MG)
4 Stars. Middle Grade Contemporary Fiction. Disordered Eating. Bullying. Shaming. I’m not sure to whom I would recommend this story. I’m glad I read it but it wasn’t an easy read. Not reviewed.
The Summer Swap by Sarah Morgan (ARC)
4 Stars. (ARC) Contemporary Women’s Fiction. I’m not sure how I managed to read two Morgan arcs in one month, but I’m not complaining. She’s one of my dependable women’s fiction authors. Review: 5/7/2024.
The Work of Art by Mimi Matthews
4 Stars. Historical Fiction. During a reading lull I decided to read a Matthews backlist title because I loved The Belle of Belgrave Square. She’s grown as a writer and I enjoyed her recent title more than this one. Not reviewed.
Wartime Wishes at Bletchley Park by Molly Green
4 Stars. #3 in a series. Historical Fiction. WWII. I’ve enjoyed all three Bletchley Park books by Green. This may be my favorite however. My review of the series included in this post.
The Irish Key by Daisy O’Shea
4 Stars. Women’s Fiction. Ireland. As far as I can tell this story takes place in the 80s, so it’s borderline contemporary/historical (in my opinion). Thanks Lynne @ Fictionophile for the recommendation. Not reviewed.
The Lady Glass by Anneka R. Walker (ARC)
4 Stars. (ARC) Historical Fiction. Inspired by Cinderella. England. Review:7/9/2024.

How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley (ARC)

This one is good but I think I enjoyed the first one more. I didn’t realize things were so bad after the war.
I’d say that’s a pretty good average rating this month despite none of them being full on 5 star reads. Love the sound of The Lady Glass and I’ll be waiting for your thoughts on that!
Lady Glass was quite entertaining! I’m not sure I followed all the political intrigue but the romance was delightful! Cinderella elements were clever!
