Although I rarely reread, I do have a few favorite books on my reread (virtual) shelf just in case the mood strikes.
I’m linking up today with That Artsy Reader Girl for Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books on my Unread Shelf. However, I’m tweaking the prompt.
Thinking about the Top Ten Tuesday prompt this week caused an extreme reaction! I turned to my Want to Read virtual shelf on Goodreads to create my list (I currently don’t have physical books and I’ve read everything on my Kindle). I have accumulated a couple hundred books on my Want to Read GR shelf. I perused the list of books and found only two I wanted to read. Honestly, I don’t even know why most of the books on my Want to Read shelf are there. I do know that sometimes Goodreads automatically adds them as Want to Read when I’ve just looked at the book to read reviews. That explains some but not all. I can’t recall why I have added the majority of the books. So…….I rashly deleted them ALL! I have a clean slate! I put library holds on the two I wanted to read. Well, this solved one problem but left me perplexed about this week’s Top Tuesday Prompt. Eventually, I decided to make a list of books that I might want to reread. I’m not a huge rereader, but now I’ll be prepared should I feel the urge. #bookproblems are the best problems, amirite?! Can anyone relate to an out-of-control Want to Read shelf on Goodreads?!

Books I Might Reread
- Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (I LOVE this story and I wouldn’t mind a reread or relisten…especially before a movie comes out!)
- A Place For Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza (I adore this complicated family drama….especially the heartfelt last part from the dad’s pov….maybe I’ll just reread the last part.)
- Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell (My high school reading experience was so memorable that I’ve been afraid to reread the book that began my lifelong love affair with historical fiction…but I will one of these days.)
- The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer (My comfort read! I’ve read this one twice and I look forward to a reread. During my third reread I need to write a review because the first time I read it before I blogged and the second time I read it so that I could refresh my memory for the movie and completely forgot to write a review.)
- Anxious People by Fredrik Backman (I think there’s always something to gain by rereading Backman’s multilayered work.)
- And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman (As mentioned above, Backman is always worth rereading, this poignant novella especially.)
- Gift From the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh (I think it would be lovely to reread this reflective work that I read decades ago.)
- Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Moneyman (I love brave Eleanor.)
- Persuasion by Jane Austen (My online book club is reading this for Austen in August, so I’ll be rereading along with them)
- The Bobbsey Twins by Laura Lee Hope (It would be nostalgic to reread a childhood favorite! I still have my copy!)

I’m not a re-reader either Carol. I did re-read a book this year as a group on Goodreads was reading it and it had been so long I forgot a lot of it. I have an incredibly crazy Want to Read shelf on Goodreads. I went back to the ones on there for years and deleted a lot of them recently as I know I will never read them, even though at one time I thought I would. Of your list here, I have read and loved 8 of them. As a child I read voraciously and read all the Bobbsey Twins and the Happy Hollisters, 2 series that I don’t think you can even get anymore.
I’m curious to reread my Bobbsey Twins book!
I wish I still had some of them.
I had an entire Nancy Drew set that disappeared! 😱
I had those as well as Trixie Beldon. I think when I moved out of my mom’s home she got rid of whatever I didn’t take with me. 🤦♀️
I wish I had more of my childhood books! I suspect I lost a few precious things when we moved a month or so after I had given birth and my husband was the last one to clear out the house!

Last year I reread a Bobbsey Twins book, the first time I’ve read this series since I was five, and I was…surprised. I didn’t really understand this family—quite different from my own—at the time I read the series as a child.
It’s one I’m curious about!
I have a massively out of control TBR shelf on Goodreads but a lot of them are books that I probably won’t ever get to. I should do another proper clean of it at some point but it’s a scary list. 😂 I don’t re-read often but Persuasion is a regular one and I think Oliphant would be interesting to re-read especially since I read it ages ago! Great list and twist 🙂
Yes, Honeyman so masterfully crafted the Eleanor book! The ending was jaw dropping!
Whenever a new book in a favorite series was released, I used to re-read at least the book before it to refresh my memory. Not so much anymore. But, I read the early Outlander books several times each.

I heard once that a movie is in the works with Ryan Gosling starting ….but I’ve heard nothing recently. They made the Martian so I can’t imagine they would miss this great opportunity! 🤞🤞🤞
GWTW was my WORLD in junior high and high school. Rhett Butler ruined me for real men lol Love seeing it on your list, in spite of it’s very real problems today.

I tend to reread old favorites if I hit a prolonged reading slump, Carol. The Third Twin by Ken Follett is at the top of my list. Rosamunde Pilcher, Marcia Willett and Maeve Binchy also feature. As you can see, I mainly go for comfort reads. Yes, I would reread Gone with the Wind – definitely. It is majestic and sweeping. I had a couple of Bobbsey Twins books as a child, but I hadn’t thought of them for years! Great post. 💕📚
I’m not sure why I resist rereading because it’s usually a good reading experience. But I’m always fearful it might ruin the book for me.

For me, any Backman book is a good idea. I adore his quiet storytelling that never fails to expose the characters’ humanity to me.

I cleaned out my GR TBR recently too, and it was so satisfying! I still have a few hundred books on there though. 😂 I also only recently started appreciating rereading! I used to hate doing that bc it felt like a waste of time when I was younger, but now I find comfort in re-meeting some of my favorite characters. <3 I plan to do a lot of rereads this year, too!

I recently went through my books on StoryGraph and deleted a chunk, but not all! Harry Potter and The Princess Diaries are the only books I generally re-read. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine would definitely be a good one to reread I think.

I deleted my entire GR TBR list, which had hundreds of books on it, and started it over from scratch a few years ago. It felt SO good! Of course, now I have hundreds on it again, but I’ve organized it better this time around at least 🙂

I honestly don’t know why I have a wishlist/to read list on Goodreads – I never look at it when I go book shopping! If I had the time to re-read rather than all the hundreds of books I’ve yet to read for the first time …..my list would include Persuasion (have already read it three times); Middlemarch (read 5 times); the Raj Quartet by Paul Scott; Dombey and Son and Milkman by Anna Burns
I’m rereading Persuasion this summer! Ok, you’ve mentioned Milkman twice! I guess I need to check that out!
Just be aware that Milkman takes a while to get into – there are no names as we know them. Characters are called, brother’s girlfriend or second auntie…..
