Have you made a Fall 2026 TBR? It’s always exciting to begin a new reading season!
Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Books on My Fall 2026 TBR

I’m linking up today with That Artsy Reader Girl: Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Books on My Fall 2026 TBR.
What is your most anticipated fall read?
With all the books that are on my radar on a given day, it’s nice to pick out a few for an official TBR. Ten still leaves room for library holds that come in, occasional ARCs, or some mood reading. Do you have a “most anticipated” fall read? I always look forward to Novellas in November and Nonfiction November in the fall.
One question you may ask is “Are these spooky reads or thrillers?” Many readers have differing opinions of what comprises a fall read: some want spooky, some look for atmospheric, some seek out thrillers, while others like to tackle large tomes or nonfiction during the fall when they are spending more time sitting by the fire. It’s my opinion that any book you read in the fall is a fall read. For my fall reads, I look for the types of books I look for all year: memorable, thought-provoking, and unputdownable. So the answer to the question is NO….no thrillers or spooky reads because I’m too susceptible to nightmares.
Keep in mind that I’m not yet recommending the books on my official fall TBR list…..check back often, though, because I will provide updates and links to reviews as I read them. For now, these are the reads that are receiving priority on my fall 2026 reading radar.
Find my Summer 2026 TBR update here. I completed 9/10 with mixed results and experienced one DNF.

What an interesting selection. Enjoy!
Thank you! I feel like such an outlier with no spooky reads!๐
Fab selection, Carol. There are a few here that I’ll be adding to my TBR! ๐
Thanks! Always fun to add to our lists!
I hope you enjoy them all!
Thanks for sharing your #TTT.
Thanks! ๐
I’m looking forward to Autumn at Flora’s House too! I also want to read Elizabeth Berg’s book but it’s not out here yet except as a very expensive import: more than the equivalent of $25!
Itโs been fun to look forward to a Floraโs House book every season!
That Madeline Miller book is going to be checked out for sure!

Iโm eager to read it!
A big YES to Lonesome Dove! I enjoyed Elizabeth Berg a lot when I was young and I liked Why You Should Read Children’s Books a lot.
Thanks for the encouragement! ๐
I just picked up Everyday I Read from the library today!
I started it last night! I hope it gets betterโฆkind of meh in the early pages.
I do tend to read more nonfiction in the autumn and winter!
Happy fall reading! ๐
Whale Harbor looks like a good read. Hope you like it if you read it.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Iโm looking forward to it! ๐
Elizabeth Berg’s novel is fantastic Carol. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Yay! I think I heard about it from you!
I read a number of Elizabeth Berg’s excellent books a while ago, and my favorite is Open House; I saved a copy of that for my shelf. But I am interested in her new one! I have read Lonesome Dove and I DO recommend it!! And I’m like you, I do not do spooky, in any form. I’m not looking forward to any particular new releases this fall, I got most of mine in the spring and summer, but my TBR includes Summer at Tiffany’s by Marjorie Hart, and Heartburn by Norah Ephron, both of which I have started, and then Heft by Liz Moore, and Wild by Cheryl Strayed.
Iโll keep Open House in mind! Sounds like you have a good reading list for fall! Happy reading! ๐
Good list. My son isn’t a big reader but somehow he devoured Lonesome Dove. Lots of people I know read/loved it back in the day either before or after the t.v. miniseries years ago.
Iโm having surgery on 9/30, so it will be my recovery read!
I hope it’s too serious, Carol. I’ll be thinking of you!
Thanks! Hip replacement surgery. Iโll announce a brief blog hiatus next Tuesday.
Oh gosh!! I hope it goes well, Carol!
Thanks! Itโs been so painfulโฆeager to be on the other side of surgery now. I needed it last year but my mom dies and I needed to focus on settling her estate. Iโve been limping around too long!
It’s very hard to be in pain like that. A friend had hers done a few years ago. She’s finally paid off her part of the “insurance” bill.
I’m looking forward to reading the Jimenez book too. I find I often turn to MG books when I need something “easier” to read, often after a long round of heavy topics.
Here’s my TTT for the week: https://readbakecreate.com/autumn-2026-tbr-ten-books-i-hope-to-read/
I love a great MG read!
I’m also very excited for the new Susan Meissner book. I might save my e-ARC for the new year, though. We’ll see.
I’ve read LONESOME DOVE twice. The first time was years ago and I LOVED it. The second time was last year (or maybe the year before?) and, this time, it really dragged for me. I enjoyed it overall, but it felt REALLY long that time around. I hope you enjoy it and all these others.
Happy TTT!
Susan

That amazing that you would read LD twice!
I love that the covers have fall colors. I hope you enjoy them! I’ve only read Lonesome Dove. I got through it pretty quickly, considering how long it is.
Thanks for encouraging me about LD!
What a great list!! And Lonesome Dove really is a fantastic book.
Thanks for the encouragement!๐
So many of these look great! I’ll need to look for the Katherine Rundell non-fiction – I’ve loved her books that I’ve read in recent years. My book group was talking about reading Lonesome Dove as well! I’d really like to get to it. Whale Harbor looks great, and I need to look into the Susan Meissner book too. Enjoy!
Fall is going to be a great reading season! ๐
