A joyful part of a reading year is discovering new-to-me authors! How many new authors did you discover this year?

I’m linking up today with That Artsy Reader Girl for Top Ten Tuesday: “New-To-Me Authors in 2023.”
I love discovering new (to me) authors! A few of these are debut authors and others have a backlist, but I’ve read them for the first time in 2023.

New-To-Me Authors in 2023
(in no particular order)
Lesley Eames
I first discovered Lesley Eames when I read The Wartime Bookshop and The Wartime Bookshop three-book series (this link will take you to my review of Christmas at the Wartime Bookshop). I enjoyed the series and continued to read her backlist. This year I read seven of her books! If you’re looking for “uplit” historical fiction, I recommend Eames.

Antoine Laurain
Coming in as my last 5-star read of 2023 was An Astronomer in Love by Antoine Laurain. I loved this entertaining and slightly quirky story of a past astronomer and the modern amateur astronomer who came into possession of his antique telescope. I loved Laurain’s writing so much that I immediately read his novella, The Red Notebook.

Ashton Lattimore
Lattimore’s thoughtful historical fiction debut All We Were Promised was a five-star read for me. (ARC) Review coming soon.

Shelley Read
Go as a River is a memorable five-star read for me, and I’ll be looking for more from debut author Shelley Read. I recently created a (FREE) Book Club Kit for Go as a River for book clubs!

Laura Frantz
I enjoyed The Seamstress of Acadie and will watch for more from Laura Frantz.

Aimie K. Runyan
I discovered Aimie Runyan when I read A Bakery in Paris, and she’s an author I’ll definitely consider again.

Siobhan Daiko
I enjoyed The Tuscan Orphan and now Daiko is on my reading radar.

Lynda Rutledge
West With Giraffes by debut author Lynda Rutledge is one of my most memorable reads in 2023. I created a (FREE) Book Club Kit for book clubs!

Freya North
Little Wing is a heartfelt and memorable read. North is now on my reading radar.

Claudia Gray
I discovered Gray when I read The Late Mrs. Willoughby, and since it’s #2 in a series, I look forward to the next installment.

When I looked at your list I had to wonder why Antoine Durain wasn’t on my list too! Definitely should have been!

All We Were Promised is definitely TBR worthy! Thanks for commenting!
Claudia Gray was new to me this year too! I read the Mr. Wickham book, but I’d like to read the Mrs. Willoughby one as well. Looks like you discovered some terrific authors and books!
Youโll enjoy Mrs. Willoughby! I look forward to the next installment!
Good list. I must read more from Antoine Laurain this year! I did not post this week.
I think he has a new release coming out this year!

Hi, Carol – I haven’t yet read any of the authors that you have featured here but I look forward to checking them out!
So fun to find new authors!
Emma from Words and Peace turned me on to Louraine, and now I’m hooked as well. I just ordered a copy of his Red Notebook, and loved The President’s Hat. Can hardly wait for more.
He has a new release this year!
I haven’t heard of most of these authors, but a lot of them sound like ones I would also enjoy. Thanks for the heads-up!
Happy TTT!
