Books I’d Love to Reread [Book Reviews] #booklist #TopTenTuesday #bookx #bookworm #readinglife

Today I’m sharing 10 books from my lifetime favs list that I’d love to reread. Are you a rereader? Why do you reread?

10 Books to Reread

I’m not a regular rereader because I always fear that a reread will spoil my first reading, and then there’s the dilemma of “so many books, so little time.” However, there are a few favorite books that I’d be tempted to reread when the mood strikes, and this is why:

  • The movie is coming out!
  • I want to read it in a different format
  • It’s been a few years/decades
  • I simply loved it and want to recapture the joy
  • I’m in a book slump and nothing on my TBR sounds exciting

Why do you reread?

(In no particular order)

I wish I could listen to this again for the first time, but I’ll settle for a relisten! Plus, I want to revisit this before the movie release in March of 2026. In addition, I buddy listened to this with my husband and a relisten would provide some entertainment for stay-at-home date nights. By the way, if you’ve read this in print, I highly recommend a reread in audio format. It’s one of my best audio experiences (and I don’t usually gravitate toward audio or sci-fi).

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (cover) Image: an astronaut floats in space tethered to a gold and black object

It didn’t take me long to want to revisit The Correspondent…my fav read of the year so far. I kept seeing reviews that praised the full cast audio format and I couldn’t resist. I’m cheating a bit by including this in my list, because I’ve already reread it! I loved both the print and audio formats, and I gained a new appreciation of it while listening to it because I listen slower than I read and it was lovely to really hear (focus on) each word/sentence/thought. I was also inspired to make a Book Club Kit for this one (free!)

The Correspondent by Virginia Evans

Poignant and thought-provoking, A Place for Us is one of my favorite family dramas, and it’s been on my mind to reread. I will try the audio format to (hopefully) enhance my rereading experience.

A Place For Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza (cover)

This is not the first time I’ve mentioned a desire to reread Gone With the Wind. I read it in high school (decades ago), and it’s probably when I fell in love with historical fiction. I’ve been afraid of a reread because I’m worried it won’t hold up, and it will tarnish my beautiful memory of a first read. Some memories need to stay intact. I’m curious if I can reread and still protect that first reading experience?

Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell (cover)

This book was popular when I was a young woman, and I remember loving it. I kept my copy for decades, but now that I’m entirely digital and have rehomed my physical library, I need to see if the library has it or buy a digital copy. I wish I could see my margin notes from my old copy! I’m curious how my reading experience will differ now that I’m well seasoned!

Gift From the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh (cover) black text over a blue and pink background (a seashell above the title)

This is a lovely essay collection that I read in print because I had an ARC. Since she’s one of my favorite bookish podcasters, I’d like to listen to her reading it to me. I’ll get on the library wait list today.

Ordinary Time by Annie B. Jones

I enjoyed this one; it’s still on many recommended lists; I’d like to hear the author narrate it. Plus, I can always use the reminders, motivation, and inspiration! Have you read it?

Atomic Habits by James Clear (cover) Image: gold and black text on a white background....very small black dots (atoms) surround the gold title

I loved the book, but I haven’t seen the movie adaptation. I’d like to reread it before I watch the film.

Still Alice by Lisa Genova

I’m overdue for a reread of A Christmas Carol. What made me think of it is that I have an ARC for A Carol for Mrs. Dickens.

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

I read this decades ago, and it may have been my first WWII histfic read. I’d like to reread it now that I have read so many other WWII titles.

The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom (cover)

  1. I really enjoyed your “Books I’d Love to Reread” list for Top Ten Tuesday! I can completely relate to the “so many books, so little time” struggle, which often keeps me from rereading too. It’s fascinating to hear your reasons for wanting to revisit certain titles, especially the idea of experiencing them in a different format. *Project Hail Mary* and *Still Alice* are both fantastic choices!

  2. I didnโ€™t know there was a film adaptation for Still Alice, but I definitely have to see it now. I loved that book.

And I am literally counting down the days until Project Hail Mary comes out. So exciting.

  3. I am starting to think I may reread too much and that is why I don’t get to other books on my TBR. I, too, will probably relisten to Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir before the movie (which I am super excited for).

  4. I thought the Still Alice adaptation with Julianne Moore was very good. I think you’ll like it.
I want to reread, but there are too many other books waiting! It’s agonizing! The ones I want to reread are the ones I’ve read and loved in the last 5 years. I feel like I need to reread to solidify what I thought, and to keep from being a little “fuzzy” about the details…and to make sure it was REALLY good! I have already done PHM in audio and print, so I’m caught up with that! Oh, and if you like The Correspondent, have you read “Meet Me at the Museum” by Anne Youngson? It’s epistolary and really, really good.

    • Yes! I have read Meet Me at the Museum! The open ended ending was frustrating! Did she meet him or not? Have you read Kate & Frida? (By the author of Love & Saffron) I fall hard for epistolary! Who has time to reread?!๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

      • I think she did meet him. ***

And no, I haven’t read Kate and Frida! Or Love and Saffron, although that one is on my TBR. I will add Kate and Frida. Thanks, I just love epistolary, too.

  5. YEAH for Ordinary Time! I’ve read GWTW too many times to cout–truly I read it every year for years. Of course I’d skip some parts after a few years. Her wedding night with Charles is an all-time favorite scene. I do fully understand and deplore the racism in it, but it is still the greatest American novel.

  6. As a teenager I read The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom over and over and over again! I am not sure I could read it again now but gee I loved it back then!

I have also read Gone with the Wind a couple of times now that I come to think of it!

  7. I have read Gift From the Sea and understand why this is a good one to reread, but generally I’m not a rereader, in a similar way as I’m not nostalgic, I don’t get anything like the pleasure of looking forward when I look or read back, so when I’ve tested that and actually reread a favourite I can feel an anticipated boredom of already knowing, even if it’s literary and loved more for the prose than plot.

    • Thanks for sharing! I donโ€™t reread often but when I do, these are the books Iโ€™ll turn to! To offset the boredom, I try to use a different format. That helps sometimes. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  8. A CHRISTMAS CAROL and ATOMIC HABITS are both on my list this week. I reread them both every year, either in print or audio format. I’m tempted to reread PROJECT HAIL MARY, but I’m a little leery about the movie after having seen the trailer. What do you think? If the audio is so excellent, maybe I’ll listen to it this time around instead of reading the print version. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

  9. What a great list, Carol. My mom gave me ‘Gift from the Sea’ years ago (when I was in University) but I don’t think I ever read it. I do still have it though. I will go look for it right now!

  10. I very seldom reread a book. I do reread children’s books to the kids as they have their favourites. I read Christmas Carol every year, and will reread a book if there is a sequel coming out and it has been awhile since I read the previous book, although I will probably skim it. I agree about rereading a book before I watch a movie or series based on a book. Nice list Carol.
