March is Reading Wales Month! How often do you read a book set in Wales?

In March, I impulsively attempted the #ReadingWales25 Challenge hosted by Karen @ BookerTalk. I read and enjoyed The Cobbler’s Apprentice (follow the link to my review) in April. I figured it would be easy to find a couple more books set in Wales. I realize now that I should have stuck with The Cobbler’s Apprentice and read the other two installments in the loosely connected series. They will be on my TBR for next March.

I didn’t have a great deal of luck in my pursuit of other books set in Wales. I read The Long Dry by Cynan Jones and, although it was well-written, it was too bleak for my tastes. 2 Stars. I skimmed a great deal. Next, I tried Why Didn’t They Ask Evans by Agatha Christie (suggested by Carla @Carla Loves to Read). 3 Stars. It was Ok.

Out of three books I attempted, I really enjoyed one. I’m making a list for next year, so if you have a recommendation, please let me know in the comments.

Thanks for hosting, Karen!

  1. Carys Jones is a Welsh author I have enjoyed in the past, Carol. I’m sorry you didn’t have a better reading experience for your challenge. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’–

  2. Clare Mackintosh’s Ffion Morgan series is set in Wales and is very good. Carol Lovekin’s books are set there too I think. And Sue McDonagh’s Art cafรฉ series is fabulous!
