I’m linking up today with That Artsy Reader Girl: Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Books on My Winter 2024/2025 TBR.

With all the books that are on my radar on a given day, it’s nice to pick out a few for an official TBR. Ten still leaves room for library holds that come in, occasional ARCs, or some mood reading.

Keep in mind that I’m not yet recommending the books on my official Winter TBR list…..check back often, though, because I will provide updates and links to reviews as I read them. For now, these are the reads that are on my winter 2024/2025 reading radar.

Find my Fall TBR update here. I read 10/10 books on my fall TBR.

Winter 2024/2025 TBR

(ARC=Advanced Reader Copy)

A Foundling at the Wartime Bookshop by Lesley Eames (three women and one holds a baby)

Genre: Historical Fiction (WWII home front)
Why?
I’m a Lesley Eames fan and completist. I’m eager to read the next installment in the Wartime Bookshop series. Pub Date: 2/23/25.
***UPDATE: 4 Stars. I love each new installment of this series!

The Bookstore Keepers by Alice Hoffman

Genre: Women’s Contemporary Fiction (short story series)
Why?
This is installment #3 in a short story series and I want to complete it. Pub Date: 2/18//25.
***UPDATE: 3 Stars. Hoffman puts the short in short story for this one. Not much happens.

Dangerous Days for the Home Front Nurses (cover) by Rachel Brimble (three female nurses and one male patient)

The Dark Maestro by Brendan Slocumb (cover)

Genre: Contemporary Fiction/Mystery/Thriller
Why? I love “own voices” and Brendan Slocumb’s work. (Violin Conspiracy and Symphony of Secrets) I have the ARC but Pub Date is 5/13/25.
***UPDATE: 4 Stars. Classical music and a super hero!

Last Twilight in Paris by Pam Jenoff (cover)

Genre: Historical Fiction (1950 and WWII)
Why?
I’ve enjoyed other work by this author. Pub Date: 2/4/25.
***UPDATE: 4 Stars. Compelling and twisty.

Good Dirt by Charmaine Wilkerson (cover)

The Love Haters by Katherine Center (cover)

Every Valley by Charles King

Genre: Nonfiction
Why?
Sounds interesting to read about this beloved piece of music. My husband and I will be buddy reading/listening to this.
***UPDATE: 3 Stars. Not at all what I expected. If you want to read about Handel, chose a biography. This was mostly European history. I thought it would never end. I wish I had read it in print format so I could have skipped entire sections. My husband is a history major and appreciated it more than I did.

The Grey Wolf by Louise Penny

Genre: Contemporary Fiction/Mystery
Why? I’m a Louise Penny completist, and even though I haven’t loved the last few installments, I can’t resist the current release.
***UPDATE: 3 Stars. Somewhat interesting if you enjoy international terrorism, but I’ve decided to wait for a library loan for the next one and not invest the money. (In a side note I heard that she canceled all her U.S. book tours because of Canadian/U.S. relations….so maybe I’ll reciprocate the boycott)

The Indigo Heiress by Laura Frantz

Late edit to add:

Let's Call Her Barbie by Renee Rosen (cover)

    • Iโ€™m a bit disappointed because I think the author put bookstore in the title to hook bookworms! Not much about books or bookstores ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ but I am a completistโ€ฆso Iโ€™ll read the third one.

  1. We don’t have any in common although I’ve read one (maybe two?) of the Alice Hoffman series.

    Happy winter reading โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

  2. You have some great choices on here, Carol. I also want to read The Dark Maestro, Indigo Heiress and The Last Twilight in Paris, but don’t have copies yet. Fingers crossed. I will definitely be reading the Katherine Center book. I hope you enjoy all of these, Carol.

    • Thanks Pam! Happy winter reading! I’ m hopping over now to read your list (found your comment in spam…sorry for delayed response)

  3. Good girl–you added Barbie! I’m so anxious to get Katherine Center’s! I put of Gray Wolf, because they got rid of Robert Bathurst [no loss] and I’m not ready for the new narrator till after the holidays.
