What book is set in a place you’d like to visit?

  1. Have you never been to New York? Silly question I suppose since it’s on here! Paris at Christmas would be fab. I have been to Paris several times but not at Christmas.

    • Unbelievable but Iโ€™ve never been to NYC. Iโ€™ve been near thereโ€ฆBoston, upstate NY, Baltimore, Maineโ€ฆbut never NYC ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

      • I don’t count airports. I’ve been in a slew of them from JFK to Regan [when it was Washington National] to Heathrow to Charles Degalle to [Netherlands] to Kyiv, to Kampal to Lusaka to Harare and Linlongwe and San Juan among others. San Juan, Lilongwe, and Harare are the only ones I’ve gotten out of the airport.

      • I remember once I was at Heathrow for an afternoon layover and we dashed out to see Big Ben, ride a double decker and the tube, and walk around and eat fish and chips!

      • Yes–on the way out to Malawi my Peace Corps group went out for the day, too. In Paris I could have but didn’t want to go alone back then [I’ve learned since!]

  2. I hope that you get to New York at some time. We’re going this year after we spend Thanksgiving in Kansas City. It will only be four weeks until Christmas so I’m hoping that a lot of the Christmassy stuff will be up and open.

  3. I imagine Paris at Christmas is magical. I want to visit NYC at Christmas, I’ve been in the Autumn and Spring but I want to see the decorations ๐Ÿ˜‚

  4. I’ve been all over the US, but never made it to NYC either, Carol. It’s not on my list today, but it is on my bucket list of places I want to go.

  5. Great list, Carol. I like how you set this up. My daughter and I had a trip planned to the Outer Hebrides when we were in Scotland several years ago. They had a huge storm and it was close to the end of the season, so they canceled it and took the boats out of the water for the year. I need to go back just to do that.

  6. First thing that comes to mind is The Grand Canyon! Never been. Book:A Walk In the Park by Kevin Fedarko. Harrowing account of his hike thru the whole canyon.

  7. Haha I also included space in my list! It would just be SO COOL!! And especially with the Artemis II astronauts up there now… I’m feeling the ultimate wanderlust

  8. I love your list, and I hope you get to all these places! I love the very idea of making such a list of books associated with the places on one’s bucket list.
