My Summary:

Thanks #NetGalley @BoldwoodBooks for a complimentary eARC of #SharedSecretsForTheHomeFrontNurses upon my request. All opinions are my own.

Shared Secrets for the Home Front Nurses is installment #4 in the Home Front Nurses Series and continues following the professional and personal lives of Sylvia, Freda, Veronica, and Kathy. The focus of this story is Kathy and her growing friendship with the three nurses and her budding romance with Freda’s brother, James. Both have suffered past traumas. Will they learn to trust and give happiness a chance?

My Thoughts:

Power of Friendship

Fans of women supporting women and friendship themes will find plenty to appreciate in this engaging and page-turning story. These four friends offer unconditional support to each other in professional and personal ways.

Themes

Challenging circumstances that the girls face in this installment include alcoholism, the complexities of a mixed race relationship, secretive f/f romance, childhood trauma (abuse), war injuries, nursing, orphans, following your dreams, taking chances, friendship, and career aspirations.

Home Front

I love stories about women on the home front during WWII, and I enjoy their perseverance, bravery, and commitment to the war effort, their community, and each other.

This installment doesn’t focus as much on nursing as the first two books in the series. Although their personal lives are intriguing, I would enjoy hearing more about the nursing work.

Content Consideration: alcoholism, PTSD, childhood abuse (in the past),

Recommending Shared Secrets for the Home Front Nurses and the Series:

If you love nursing and women supporting women, you will enjoy the Home Front Nurses series. Although this story can be read as a standalone, reading the series in order will provide a richer reading experience.

My Rating: 4 Stars
