My Summary of The Lady Glass:
Welcome to my stop on the book tour for The Lady Glass. Thanks @CovenantComms @AustenProse for a complimentary e ARC of #TheLadyGlass upon my request. All opinions are my own.
Grieving the loss of her father, Theresia Dvorak discovers that her evil step-mother has stolen and sold her priceless crystal vase, her only dowry. Determined to recover the valuable vase, she assumes a false identity (“Lady Glass”) and gains entrance to a house party to search for the vase. An encounter with a handsome naval captain complicates her scheme. They are forced to work together to achieve both of their goals. A mutual attraction causes sparks to fly as this story with nods to Cinderella unfolds.
My Thoughts:
Regency Mystery/Romance
A Regency mystery/romance is quite fun for a change-of-pace read! The Lady Glass features forced proximity and enemies to lovers and then partners-in-crime to lovers tropes. You will enjoy the chemistry and witty banter between Theresia (“Lady Glass”) and the captain (handsome prince) as sparks fly, the search intensities, and hijinks ensues.
The Stolen Vase
Not a glass slipper, but the mystery of the vase drives the action. Who stole the vase? Who has the vase? Where is the vase? How will Theresia and the captain conduct their clandestine investigation, recover the vase, and remain undetected?
Cinderella Vibes
An evil stepmother selling Theresia’s valuable glass-blown vase and a handsome prince (the captain) helping solve the mystery and aiding in the recovery of the glass vase strongly contribute to the rags-to-riches Cinderella vibes. You may find other similarities!
Recommending The Lady Glass
Fans of sweet, regency (firmly closed door) romance, nods to Cinderella, danger-filled hijinks, and a mystery to solve will appreciate this well-told and engaging story. It might be the change-of-pace read you need this summer.
My Rating: 4 Stars
