Do you have bookish books (books about books) on your bookshelf?

When Susan @ BlogginBoutBooks posted her 2024 Bookish Books Reading Challenge, I impulsively broke my own rule about participating in reading challenges. Books about books? Sign me up! Well…as is typical of me, I forget to track them and post regular updates. That is not to say I don’t read them! I’m doing the reading and reviewing, just not the tracking. So today I’m listing all the books about books I’ve read so far in 2024 for my May entry.

Bookish Books I’ve Read From January Through May
(listed in order of Star ranking and divided by adult and middle grade)
Adult Fiction
- The Best Life Book Club by Sheila Roberts (Contemporary Fiction) 4.5 Stars
- The British Booksellers by Kristy Cameron (Historical Fiction; WWII) 4.5 Stars
- The London Bookshop Affair by Louise Fein (Historical Fiction; WWII and Cold War) 4 Stars
- The Wartime Book Club by Kate Thompson (Historical Fiction; WWII) 4 Stars
- The Library Girls of East End (#1) by Patricia McBride (Historical Fiction; WWII) 4 Stars

- The Booklover’s Library by Madeline Martin (Historical Fiction: WWII) 4 Stars
- The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan (Contemporary Women’s Fiction; Scotland) 2 Stars (very little about books….example of “bookshop” in titles to sell women’s fiction books in my opinion)
Middle Grade Fiction
- The Undercover Book List by Colleen Nelson (Middle Grade Contemporary Fiction) 3.5 Stars
- The Lost Library by Rebecca Stead (Middle Grade Contemporary Fiction; magical realism) 3 Stars

There are definitely books here that I must add to my tbr as I do love a book about books. Thanks for the recommendations.
My pleasure! Thanks for commenting and happy reading!
I love bookish books! Iโll be going thru your list to see which I need to add to my TBR.
I canโt resist them!
Hi, Carol – I love bookish books as well. Thank you for sharing these titles. The only one that I have read so far is The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan. I didn’t mind it – but I was totally in the Christmas reading grove at the time so that may have added to my enjoyment! <3
Iโm glad you enjoyed it! Sheโs a hit or miss author for me. This one was ok but didnโt love it.
I do like a bookish book and loved Jenny Colgan’s Christmas bookshop – which had 3 ticks from me in that it was by Jenny Colgan, set in Edinburgh, and had Christmas in the title. Thanks for linking up!
The Edinburgh setting is delightful! I could imagine myself there!
Easily!
YES! I’m so glad I was able to persuade you to break your rule about participating in reading challenges ๐ Looks like you’ve read some good ones. I haven’t read any of these, but most of them are already on my TBR list. I hadn’t heard of the East End series before. I’ll have to look that one up.

๐ You had to know that bookish books would finally reel me in!
How clever to include all your bookish books Carol! I’ve read the Wartime Book Club but that’s about all from your list! Thanks for joining us for #WOYBS, you always have such interesting sets of topics!
Thanks Debbie! Books about books are so fun!
I do like books about books too – I find myself drawn to a story that is set in a bookshop or a library. And I also keep trying to do reading challenges, despite not having nearly as much time to read as the challenges usually demand! Looks like you’ve done a great job with this challenge. Happy Reading!
Books about books are my favorite! So many stories so little time! Thanks for commenting!
Those look good. I’ll have to add a few to my TBR list
Thanks for commenting Kirstin! Happy reading!
