MMD 2019 Reading Challenge
“Reading is a Sport”

Completed
I always enjoy the Modern Mrs Darcy (MMD) yearly Reading Challenge because it’s so doable! The categories generally match what I’m reading anyway and are broad. I don’t enjoy challenges that are too long or that require me to read books based on the color of the cover or a certain word in the title.
My Results
A book I’ve been meaning to read…
84 Charing Cross Road and the sequel (The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street) by Helene Hanff
A book about a topic that fascinates me…
Leadership in Turbulent Times by Doris Kearns Goodwin
My Review
A book in the back list of a favorite author…
A Fall of Marigolds by Susan Meissner
My Review.
A book recommended by someone with great taste…
Meet Me at the Museum by Anne Youngson (recommended by Modern Mrs. Darcy)
My Review.
Three books by the same author…
Susan Meissner: A Fall of Marigolds, Secrets of a Charmed Life, The Shape of Mercy
My Review of A Fall of Marigolds.
A book I chose for the cover…
Amal Unbound by Aisha Saeed
My Review.
A book by an author who is new to me…
Hum if You Don’t Know the Words by Bianca Marais (after reading it, I knew I also wanted to read her new release If You Want to Make God Laugh)
My Reviews here and here.
A book in translation…
Things My Son Needs to Know About the World by Fredrik Backman (originally in Swedish)
My Review.
A book outside my (genre) comfort zone…
A book published before I was born…
The Enchanted April by Elizabeth Von Arnim
My Review.

Thanks! 😍👍
Fantastic post Carol. I just went back and read your review of Meet Me at the Museum – your posts are so thorough and informative! Raspberries for dessert!
Thanks for the kind words and support Jaymi! 🙌😍
This looks like a great challenge to get me out of my comfort zone. I like your choices for this year. A few I will be checking out over the next few day. I might give this one a go next year. Great post Carol.
It’s an easy challenge I think! I read at least 2 books I never would have read otherwise! 👍😍
There are some prompts that I know would have me reading things I wouldn’t normally, so it is definitely something I would be interested in trying.
I love your challenge selections for this year Carol, and they’re so beautifully presented. Congrats on completing it!
I’m looking forward to more great reading together with the MMD BOOK CLUB in the coming year!! ❤️

Thanks for your kind words and for stopping by to comment Janelle! 😍
Signed up for the 2020 challenge yesterday, only a day after saying I would probably go challenge free next year. Oh dear, how fickle I am. What persuaded me to give it a go was the fact you don’t have to make a list in advance…..so it gives me flexibility
😂 It’s a very user friendly challenge! Happy reading! Thanks for commenting!
Congratulations on completing the challenge! I wanted to do this but didn’t make it. Maybe next year. 😀
It’s one in which what you’re already reading can easily fit most categories! Happy reading and thanks for commenting Michelle!
Woohoo! Good job on this challenge.
I got really into reading again this year, so I didn’t think to do a challenge. I’ll have to start next year!
Thanks! There are some fun challenges around! Good luck! 👍
