My Summary:

Thanks #NetGalley @StMartinsPress for a complimentary eARC of #TheShippers upon my request. All opinions are my own.

Cooper, JoJo’s childhood friend, saves her from marrying the wrong man. Her sister is getting married on a cruise ship, and JoJo convinces Cooper to be her wingman as she attempts to gain the attention of a handsome wedding guest. We all know that Cinnamon Bun Cooper and JoJo belong together, but it will take them the entire book to figure that out.

My Thoughts:

Tropes

Tried and True tropes make this an enjoyable escapist reading experience: childhood friends to lovers, fake flirting, and forced proximity. Add some trademark Katherine Center humor and witty banter and you have a light and entertaining weekend or poolside/beach read.

Cinnamon Bun Hero to the Rescue

In more ways than one, our Cinnamon Bun hero comes to the rescue in The Shippers. Cooper not only saves JoJo from marrying the wrong man and assists her in her wild schemes to attract the attention of a wedding guest, but he is also the best character in the entire story!

For a Smart Woman….

According to the author’s characterization, JoJo is a smart woman. So why is she about to walk down the aisle into an unhappy marriage? Why is she seeking the attention of a newly divorced wedding guest when Cooper, our cinnamon Bun hero is right in front of her? Even though JoJo is an entertaining character, I can’t claim her as a favorite.

Cruise Ship is a Fun Setting

After the runaway bride intro, the remainder of the story takes place on a cruise ship. This is a fun setting that sets up many opportunities for entertaining shenanigans.

Recommending The Shippers:

Fans of Katherine Center will be eager to add this page-turning new release to their summer TBRs, and will be “shipping” JoJo and Cooper from the beginning pages.

Related: Other books I’ve reviewed by the author include The Bodyguard, The Rom-Commers, Hello Stranger, The Love Haters, and What You Wish For. (I’ve read others that I haven’t reviewed)

Rating: 4 out of 5.
