Wow! I just finished this 5-Star book. I love this author’s writing and will definitely check out her next one!
A Place for Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza
I wish the author would write a sequel to this family story.
Lady Tremaine by Rachel Hochhouser
This is a compelling reimagining of Cinderella from the evil stepmother’s POV.
Down with the Shipmans by Meg Mitchell Moore
Three grown daughters return to the family home for a visit with their father who wants to sell the family home after the recent passing of their mother.
We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter
The story of siblings who were separated during WWII and then reunited. It features one of the most heartwarming and satisfying conclusions with its themes of faith and family.
Leave and Come Back by Lavanya Lakshmi
A young Indian-American woman returns home for a family wedding. Lots of shenanigans ensue.
Abigail and Alexa Save the Wedding by Lian Dolan

Boy, I loved Little Fires Everywhere, and I’m dying to read The Burning Side, but I didn’t love A Place for Us, I found it flat and boring (I’m an outlier on that one). There must be so many, but I loved The Connellys of County Down, and Apples Never Fall, Inside the O’Briens, The Things We Never Say, Ladder of Years……those are just this year and last!

A Place For Us was difficult to get into because it switched pov multiple times within a chapter with no warning. Very unsettling! Once I knew the characters, it was easier. The last section from the father’s pov made it a 5 star read for me. This is my fav quote…. “Of all my mistakes the greatest, the most dangerous, was not emphasizing the mercy of God.” ~Rafiq

THE BURNING SIDE is getting so much positive buzz! I need to read it. I read FAMILY OF SPIES because of your recommendation and really enjoyed it. It’s definitely stuck with me. I’m on a waitlist at the library for DOWN WITH THE SHIPMANS, another recommendation from you. My TBR “pile” is about to collapse because of you! LOL

Sorry, not sorry! 😂😂😂 the Burning side and Shipman’s are the antidotes to Sandwich and Wreck in my outlier opinion! I hope you enjoy them both! Family of Spies was quite a story!
I loved Lady Tremaine! To be honest, Far From the Tree had slipped my mind (it’s been a while), but seeing it here reminds me how much I enjoyed it. Great list!
