10 Popular Books I Haven’t Read #booklist #blogger #bookblogger #TopTenTuesday #bookx #booksky #TuesdayBookBlog

Every year my list of books I haven’t read yet gets longer and longer. At times, it’s the content warnings, other times it’s the genre, frequently reviews are to blame, and sometimes it’s the Buzz or Hype. More often than not, it’s a case of #SoManyBooksSoLittleTime. Can you relate? What is one popular book you haven’t yet read?

10 Popular Books I Haven’t Read

Reading is my favorite sport (text alongside a tall stack of books)

I’m linking up today with That Artsy Reader Girl for Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read.

Too bleak?

I have Fomo because it’s mentioned so often.

I’m 100% realistic fiction. Fantasy is difficult for me.

Am I the only one who hasn’t read Harry Potter?

I didn’t love The Poisonwood Bible, so I’ve been reluctant to pick up more by the author.

It’s so long and I have so many other books to read, but I’d like to conquer this classic.

On my “must read” list.

I usually avoid anything political, so I’m not sure about this popular memoir.

I know, I know! I NEED to read this.

I’ve given up on Kristin Hannah, but I hear good things about this one.

 Letโ€™s Discuss!

What is one popular book you haven’t yet read?

Happy Reading Book Friends!

  1. Yes you really must watch Remarkably Bright Creatures! I watched the Netflix adaptation last week and it was wonderful.

  2. I have Becoming on my bookshelf too, but like Sarah, the size puts me off. However, I am a huge Harry Potter fan and have read and re-read the books many times.

    • Thatโ€™s the thing with K Hannahโ€ฆ.. so emotional! Iโ€™m curious about Demon Copperfield. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Love the way you’ve done this, Carol, I might join in now! I loved the audiobook of Becoming, it was so interesting and uplifting. I also loved The Women, and Station Eleven on audio. I’ve only listened to the first Harry Potter, but I enjoyed it as Stephen Fry reads the UK books.

    • Ugh. Iโ€™d love to knock The Road off my list but Iโ€™m just not sure because I donโ€™t do well with bleak.

    • Iโ€™m seeing many today that I could have added! I guess we have a head start on the next time it comes around!

  4. I’ve never read a Harry Potter book and doubt I ever will. I’m tempted by Demon Copperhead and if I saw a nice copy in a secondhand bookshop I might give it a go.

  5. I’ve only read the first Harry Potter book, but watched most of the movies. I read the last three and Demon Copperhead, but not Poisonwood Bible. I went a similar way with my Top Ten today, Carol. Funny, Station Eleven almost made my list today.

  6. I haveโ€™t read all those books either, but the octopus book, Remarkably Bright Creatures is enjoyable. After I read it, I watched the South African documentary on a real octopus called My Octopus Teacherโ€ฆ.really good. And I tried octopus on my trip to Portugalโ€ฆdelicious.
Those who did not live through the horrible Vietnam War might think about reading The Women. I was so glad when my 40 year old daughter read it, and learned a lot about a hard period in our history. I love your blog thank you! ๐Ÿ“–โค๏ธ๐Ÿ“–

  7. Well, I’m another one who has never read Harry Potter and have no plans to do so. I don’t do wizards and witches and spells. I’ve read 5 on your list and can’t resist giving MY comments on them! Remarkably Bright Creatures was good, you’ll like it. I am looking forward to watching the movie. Becoming was interesting in getting to know Michelle’s origins and marrying Barack, but she got to be too “ra ra cheerleader”about everything, I had a hard time with all the cheerfulness and positivity!! Lonesome Dove was TOTALLY worth all the time it took to read it, it was GOOD! Station Eleven was good until I got to the end, and then I lost it. It gets black marks from me. The Road WAS bleak, but I found it interesting and absorbing.
Demon Copperhead is also on my list to read, but I’ve never read David Copperfield, and the subject matter of DC just doesn’t appeal…..even though I love Barbara Kingsolver. I would recommend you try one of her earlier books, The Bean Trees, for instance! That was my first one and I loved it! And I gave up on Kristen Hannah long ago, and NO WAY JOSE would I read a book about Vietnam!

    • Wow! Thanks for sharing all your thoughts! My first thought was about The Women was the same as yoursโ€ฆVietnamโ€ฆno thanks. But I continue to hear great reviews. Plus I had given up on the author because I feel she manipulates my emotions!

I have Remarkably Bright Creatures high on my TBR..plus watching the film adaptation.

I think the ship has sailed for me on reading HP. Not a fantasy or witchcraft fan.

Maybe we should attempt a buddy read of Demon Copperhead?!

      • That would be fun! But I can’t fit it in in the foreseeable future! I’m all booked up!

  8. I have read Harry Potter, not all of them, but that was when they first came out and my kids were young. I haven’t read The Bluest Eye, and I really want to!

  9. Interesting list! I highly recommend the Harry Potter series and REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES. I’ve read LONESOME DOVE twice – the first time was in my 20s and I absolutely LOVED it. The second time was last year (I think?) and I struggled to get through it because it’s SO long and plotless. I guess I don’t have the attention span that I did when I was younger?? As for THE WOMEN…meh. I have enjoyed most of Hannah’s newer books, but THE WOMEN is overly long, doesn’t have much of a plot, and gets VERY repetitive. It was mostly a disappointing read for me.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

    • Your experience with LD is the main reason I havenโ€™t yet reread Gone with the Wind! Have you seen the RBC film adaptation? I hear itโ€™s well done and Sally Field is my favorite!
