Every year my list of books I haven’t read yet gets longer and longer. At times, it’s the content warnings, other times it’s the genre, frequently reviews are to blame, and sometimes it’s the Buzz or Hype. More often than not, it’s a case of #SoManyBooksSoLittleTime. Can you relate? What is one popular book you haven’t yet read?

***Each book title is an Amazon affiliate Link.
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Too bleak?
Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel
I have Fomo because it’s mentioned so often.
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
I’m 100% realistic fiction. Fantasy is difficult for me.
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
Am I the only one who hasn’t read Harry Potter?
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
I didn’t love The Poisonwood Bible, so I’ve been reluctant to pick up more by the author.
Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry
It’s so long and I have so many other books to read, but I’d like to conquer this classic.
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
On my “must read” list.
Becoming by Michelle Obama
I usually avoid anything political, so I’m not sure about this popular memoir.
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
I know, I know! I NEED to read this.
The Women by Kristin Hannah
I’ve given up on Kristin Hannah, but I hear good things about this one.
Letโs Discuss!

I haven’t read Harry Potter either, it’s never appealed. I’ve had Becoming for years but am overwhelmed by the size of it ๐
Here’s mine https://sarahcollinsbookworm.wordpress.com/2026/06/02/top-ten-tuesday-2-6-26-books-i-cant-believe-ive-never-read/
Iโm comforted to know that thereโs at least 2 of us that havenโt read HP!
Yes you really must watch Remarkably Bright Creatures! I watched the Netflix adaptation last week and it was wonderful.
Looking forward to it!
Whoops – typed the wrong thing. You really must READ Remarkably Bright Creatures! ๐
Read AND watch! ๐
I have Becoming on my bookshelf too, but like Sarah, the size puts me off. However, I am a huge Harry Potter fan and have read and re-read the books many times.
I imagine that despite the size that Becoming is easy reading.
The Women is an emotional rollercoaster and Demon Copperhead is on my TBR as well.
<u TTT: https://laurieisreading.com/2026/06/02/top-ten-tuesday-book-series-i-cant-believe-ive-never-finished/
Thatโs the thing with K Hannahโฆ.. so emotional! Iโm curious about Demon Copperfield. Thanks for stopping by!
Love the way you’ve done this, Carol, I might join in now! I loved the audiobook of Becoming, it was so interesting and uplifting. I also loved The Women, and Station Eleven on audio. I’ve only listened to the first Harry Potter, but I enjoyed it as Stephen Fry reads the UK books.
Thanks! I always get distracted by the new ones!
I loved Station Eleven, The Bluest Eye, and Becoming and hope you do, too.
It seems like Station 11 and Bluest Eye might be modern classics!
I felt forced to read all the Harry Potter books when I was an elementary school librarian and I got pressure from my students!
I can imagine! ๐
The Road is very bleak. It will haunt you for a while after you read it. And I am the same with Kristin Hannah.
Ugh. Iโd love to knock The Road off my list but Iโm just not sure because I donโt do well with bleak.
The Women should have been on my list!
Thanks for sharing your #TTT
Iโm seeing many today that I could have added! I guess we have a head start on the next time it comes around!
I’ve never read a Harry Potter book and doubt I ever will. I’m tempted by Demon Copperhead and if I saw a nice copy in a secondhand bookshop I might give it a go.
Yeah, I think the HP ship has sailed for me! DC sounds intriguing!
I’ve only read the first Harry Potter book, but watched most of the movies. I read the last three and Demon Copperhead, but not Poisonwood Bible. I went a similar way with my Top Ten today, Carol. Funny, Station Eleven almost made my list today.
Iโm adding quite a few books to my growing list today!
I’ve added a few, but am being discerning.
๐
the only one I’ve read from your list is the Harry Potter series -which I highly recommend. My TTT
So many love HP! ๐
I’ve only read Harry Potter [I haven’t read all of the series] and The Women. I liked the Women a lot but it wasn’t without flaws.
Iโm always afraid K Hannah books will be too emotional!
I haveโt read all those books either, but the octopus book, Remarkably Bright Creatures is enjoyable. After I read it, I watched the South African documentary on a real octopus called My Octopus Teacherโฆ.really good. And I tried octopus on my trip to Portugalโฆdelicious.
Those who did not live through the horrible Vietnam War might think about reading The Women. I was so glad when my 40 year old daughter read it, and learned a lot about a hard period in our history. I love your blog thank you! ๐โค๏ธ๐
That one is probably near the top of my tbr! Thanks for encouraging me!
I’ve heard really great things about Demon Cooperfield but I don’t think it’s for me. Great list!
Thatโs been my hesitation!
Well, I’m another one who has never read Harry Potter and have no plans to do so. I don’t do wizards and witches and spells. I’ve read 5 on your list and can’t resist giving MY comments on them! Remarkably Bright Creatures was good, you’ll like it. I am looking forward to watching the movie. Becoming was interesting in getting to know Michelle’s origins and marrying Barack, but she got to be too “ra ra cheerleader”about everything, I had a hard time with all the cheerfulness and positivity!! Lonesome Dove was TOTALLY worth all the time it took to read it, it was GOOD! Station Eleven was good until I got to the end, and then I lost it. It gets black marks from me. The Road WAS bleak, but I found it interesting and absorbing.
Demon Copperhead is also on my list to read, but I’ve never read David Copperfield, and the subject matter of DC just doesn’t appeal…..even though I love Barbara Kingsolver. I would recommend you try one of her earlier books, The Bean Trees, for instance! That was my first one and I loved it! And I gave up on Kristen Hannah long ago, and NO WAY JOSE would I read a book about Vietnam!
Wow! Thanks for sharing all your thoughts! My first thought was about The Women was the same as yoursโฆVietnamโฆno thanks. But I continue to hear great reviews. Plus I had given up on the author because I feel she manipulates my emotions!
I have Remarkably Bright Creatures high on my TBR..plus watching the film adaptation.
I think the ship has sailed for me on reading HP. Not a fantasy or witchcraft fan.
Maybe we should attempt a buddy read of Demon Copperhead?!
That would be fun! But I can’t fit it in in the foreseeable future! I’m all booked up!
I have read Harry Potter, not all of them, but that was when they first came out and my kids were young. I haven’t read The Bluest Eye, and I really want to!
Bluest Eye is high on my tbr!
I feel like I’m in the minority when I say Remarkable Bright Creatures was a DNF. I wanted more Marcellus, as I had already figured out the human “drama” parts.
Here’s my TTT for the week: https://readbakecreate.com/a-author-names-alphabet-challenge/
No two persons read the same book. Your reading experience is legit!
Interesting list! I highly recommend the Harry Potter series and REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES. I’ve read LONESOME DOVE twice – the first time was in my 20s and I absolutely LOVED it. The second time was last year (I think?) and I struggled to get through it because it’s SO long and plotless. I guess I don’t have the attention span that I did when I was younger?? As for THE WOMEN…meh. I have enjoyed most of Hannah’s newer books, but THE WOMEN is overly long, doesn’t have much of a plot, and gets VERY repetitive. It was mostly a disappointing read for me.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Susan

Your experience with LD is the main reason I havenโt yet reread Gone with the Wind! Have you seen the RBC film adaptation? I hear itโs well done and Sally Field is my favorite!
I’ve read The Women and The Bluest Eye. I think I read Becoming. The others, I haven’t read.
We will never run out of great reads! ๐
Beloved really isn’t political. My 93 year old mum who has zero interest in politics, just finished it and loved it
Thanks for the feedback!
