Top Ten Tuesday is discussing 2026 bookish goals today. What is your number one bookish goal for this year?

Bookish Goals for 2026

Make Things Happen (written on a sticky note): Reading Goals

I’m linking up with That Artsy Reader Girl: Top Ten Tuesday: 2026 Bookish Goals

It’s fun to set attainable bookish goals!

Do you set bookish goals at the beginning of the year?

Curate a satisfying and enjoyable reading life.
Continuing to read what I want, when I want, and unapologetically DNFing!

Meet my Goodreads Challenge Goal of 100+ books.
I love setting goals I know I will meet!

Try a new Reading Tracker.
Since 2017, I’ve tracked my reading on Goodreads, Story Graph, and my own Excel spreadsheet. I am supporting Sarah’s Bookshelves Live (Podcast) as a Patreon this year because I enjoy the content of the free podcast and want more….and also because I wanted to try their Reading Tracker (available to Patreons). One feature I like about the tracker right away is that it includes a Dashboard that automatically totals up data for me. I was counting this data manually on my own spreadsheet because I don’t know the formulas. This will be a time saver!

Continue to track Bookish Books for Susan’s challenge @ Bloggin’ ‘Bout Books.
This is the only challenge I’m doing besides Goodreads because 1) I know it will be successful and 2) I love this subgenre and want to track the bookish books I read.

Create more Book Club Kits.
I’ve created 6 FREE Book Club Kits and I want to create at least two more this year.

Read more nonfiction.
I set a goal of reading 20% nonfiction every year, and every year I fall short. I look for titles, but many of them don’t appeal to my reading tastes. Nevertheless, the fun is in the trying, amirite?!

Read or reread a classic.
My goal is to read one classic a year. This may be the year I reread Gone with the Wind.

Track recommendation sources.
I track many things, but I haven’t been consistent in tracking recommendation sources. I think it will be interesting data, and I want to be more dedicated to tracking it this year.

Read more authors of color.
I make an effort to read authors of color, but I can do better.

Write reviews immediately upon finishing a book.
This is an ongoing and challenging goal. I take good notes, which helps, but consistently writing the actual review (or a rough draft) upon finishing a book will help me better capture the reading experience.

  1. If you are looking for nonfiction to read make sure you check out my Nonfiction Reader Challenge Inspiration posts.. Iโ€™ve shared over 200 nonfiction books in the last three weeks ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for sharing your #TTT and good luck with your goals

  2. Good luck with all your goals. I might look into that bookish book challenge. I love the novel Gone With the Wind. Did you ever read the ‘sequel’ Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley? I loved that too.

    • So many others have reread GwtW and Iโ€™ve always been afraid to! I donโ€™t want to tarnish my original memory and reading experience! Iโ€™ve never read Scarlett so that might motivate me!

  3. I have as many goals as you do, and many of the same, but one I want to continue is to keep choosing as many 4 and 5 star reads as possible—-What Should I Read Next is helping me prioritize finding the right books for me and not wasting my time on ones that aren’t. So, last year, I had (35) 5 star reads, and (42) 4 stars reads, out of 120. Which is a 29% percentage for 5 stars, and 64% for BOTH 4 and 5! Very good year! I want to keep it up!

    • Iโ€™m envious of your 5 star percentage! Last year I had only 7โ€ฆ.but I had lots of 4.5 I rounded up! Iโ€™m the problemโ€ฆtoo picky! Congrats on a wonderful reading year! ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿ“š

  4. My best reviews are when I write them right away. That’s a fantastic goal. I like the idea of tracking bookish books. I love reading those. Good luck with all your goals.

  5. I was on a nonfiction kick for a hot minute and Iโ€™m already tired of it. Hopefully Iโ€™ll finish my current read soon and find something that sparks the interest again. Great goals! Good luck on them all.

    • lol! I can recommend a page turning nf book I just finishedโ€ฆ, Family of Spies by Christine Kuehnโ€ฆ. When youโ€™re in the mood for more nf! Happy 2026 reading! ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿ“š

  6. Wonderful list! I wholeheartedly agree with writing reviews immediately after finishing a book. I have so many left to write, and unlike you, I don’t write notes, so I’m going to have to exercise some real memory power ๐Ÿ˜‚. 100 books would never be my goal (I don’t think I’ve ever read that many books in a year), but I know you’ll smash it! I hope you achieve all your goals ๐Ÿ˜Š.

  7. Keeping a record of recommendations is a good idea, I started doing that when I added a book to my Goodreads library, somehow you can add notes that only you get to see. Problem is I’ve forgotten how to do that!

    • Iโ€™ve never figured out how to make notes in GR. Iโ€™m using a new reading tracker this year and I hope it will helps ๐Ÿคž

  8. You’ve got some great goals here, Carol. I also want to try to read one or two classics this year. I plan on reading Wind in the Willows, and listening to Sense and Sensibilities. Getting my reviews written shortly after finishing a book is also a goal of mine and I am getting better at it.
