Top Ten Tuesday is discussing 2026 bookish goals today. What is your number one bookish goal for this year?
Bookish Goals for 2026

I’m linking up with That Artsy Reader Girl: Top Ten Tuesday: 2026 Bookish Goals
It’s fun to set attainable bookish goals!
Do you set bookish goals at the beginning of the year?
#1
Curate a satisfying and enjoyable reading life.
Continuing to read what I want, when I want, and unapologetically DNFing!
#2
Meet my Goodreads Challenge Goal of 100+ books.
I love setting goals I know I will meet!
#3
Try a new Reading Tracker.
Since 2017, I’ve tracked my reading on Goodreads, Story Graph, and my own Excel spreadsheet. I am supporting Sarah’s Bookshelves Live (Podcast) as a Patreon this year because I enjoy the content of the free podcast and want more….and also because I wanted to try their Reading Tracker (available to Patreons). One feature I like about the tracker right away is that it includes a Dashboard that automatically totals up data for me. I was counting this data manually on my own spreadsheet because I don’t know the formulas. This will be a time saver!
#4
Continue to track Bookish Books for Susan’s challenge @ Bloggin’ ‘Bout Books.
This is the only challenge I’m doing besides Goodreads because 1) I know it will be successful and 2) I love this subgenre and want to track the bookish books I read.
#5
Create more Book Club Kits.
I’ve created 6 FREE Book Club Kits and I want to create at least two more this year.
#6
Read more nonfiction.
I set a goal of reading 20% nonfiction every year, and every year I fall short. I look for titles, but many of them don’t appeal to my reading tastes. Nevertheless, the fun is in the trying, amirite?!
#7
Read or reread a classic.
My goal is to read one classic a year. This may be the year I reread Gone with the Wind.
#8
Track recommendation sources.
I track many things, but I haven’t been consistent in tracking recommendation sources. I think it will be interesting data, and I want to be more dedicated to tracking it this year.
#9
Read more authors of color.
I make an effort to read authors of color, but I can do better.
#10
Write reviews immediately upon finishing a book.
This is an ongoing and challenging goal. I take good notes, which helps, but consistently writing the actual review (or a rough draft) upon finishing a book will help me better capture the reading experience.

โAh, how good it is to be among people who are reading.โ
~Rainer Maria Rilke
โI love the world of words, where life and literature connect.โ
~Denise J Hughes
โReading good books ruins you for enjoying bad ones.โ
~Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
โI read because books are a form of transportation, of teaching, and of connection! Books take us to places weโve never been, they teach us about our world, and they help us to understand human experience.โ

Fab list, Carol, good luck!
๐ฅThanks!
Fab list. I need to get back into the habit of writing reviews straight away…. maybe this will be our year ๐ค๐ป good luck!
Every year I try to improve in this area! ๐ค
If you are looking for nonfiction to read make sure you check out my Nonfiction Reader Challenge Inspiration posts.. Iโve shared over 200 nonfiction books in the last three weeks ๐
Thanks for sharing your #TTT and good luck with your goals
Yes Shelleyrae! I always pursue your posts for ideas! The problem is ME! #incorrigablemoodreader
Good luck with all your goals. I might look into that bookish book challenge. I love the novel Gone With the Wind. Did you ever read the ‘sequel’ Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley? I loved that too.
So many others have reread GwtW and Iโve always been afraid to! I donโt want to tarnish my original memory and reading experience! Iโve never read Scarlett so that might motivate me!
Iโd love to read more nonfiction as well.
I just read Family of Spies which was page turning narrative nonfiction. I need to find more like that!
I have as many goals as you do, and many of the same, but one I want to continue is to keep choosing as many 4 and 5 star reads as possible—-What Should I Read Next is helping me prioritize finding the right books for me and not wasting my time on ones that aren’t. So, last year, I had (35) 5 star reads, and (42) 4 stars reads, out of 120. Which is a 29% percentage for 5 stars, and 64% for BOTH 4 and 5! Very good year! I want to keep it up!
Iโm envious of your 5 star percentage! Last year I had only 7โฆ.but I had lots of 4.5 I rounded up! Iโm the problemโฆtoo picky! Congrats on a wonderful reading year! ๐ฅ๐
I’m giving a new reading tracker a try this year as well. It’s called Hardcover app. It’s available both as an app and a website (which I love)! As I’ve only really started using it, I’m not sure how i feel about it. Especially as I’ve been using GR since like 2008.

Good luck with the new app! Let us know how it works out!
My best reviews are when I write them right away. That’s a fantastic goal. I like the idea of tracking bookish books. I love reading those. Good luck with all your goals.
The book review secret! ๐ฏ Happy 2026 reading! ๐ฅ๐
I was on a nonfiction kick for a hot minute and Iโm already tired of it. Hopefully Iโll finish my current read soon and find something that sparks the interest again. Great goals! Good luck on them all.
lol! I can recommend a page turning nf book I just finishedโฆ, Family of Spies by Christine Kuehnโฆ. When youโre in the mood for more nf! Happy 2026 reading! ๐ฅ๐
Good luck! I’m trying to read more nonfiction this year too.
My truest challenge!
I WHOLLY support goal #4 ๐ Bookish books are the best, and I’m so glad you’ve chosen to do the challenge with me. I look forward to seeing which ones you read and recommend this year.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Is it cheating to do a challenge that I know Iโll win at?!?! ๐๐
Not even a little bit! I call it smart planning ๐

Wonderful list! I wholeheartedly agree with writing reviews immediately after finishing a book. I have so many left to write, and unlike you, I don’t write notes, so I’m going to have to exercise some real memory power ๐. 100 books would never be my goal (I don’t think I’ve ever read that many books in a year), but I know you’ll smash it! I hope you achieve all your goals ๐.

Thanks Marwah! I can read 100 because Iโm retired! Reading is my job! ๐ Happy 2026 reading! ๐๐ฅ
Good list…am working on #8 myself…
Iโm trying a new tracker this year so it might help! Good luck!
Keeping a record of recommendations is a good idea, I started doing that when I added a book to my Goodreads library, somehow you can add notes that only you get to see. Problem is I’ve forgotten how to do that!
Iโve never figured out how to make notes in GR. Iโm using a new reading tracker this year and I hope it will helps ๐ค
Awesome list! Hope you enjoy the pursuit of all these goals! My list is here https://thepart.reviews/2026-goals. I’ve also been building an app to solve exactly this tracking problem out later this winter.

You’ve got some great goals here, Carol. I also want to try to read one or two classics this year. I plan on reading Wind in the Willows, and listening to Sense and Sensibilities. Getting my reviews written shortly after finishing a book is also a goal of mine and I am getting better at it.
Wind in the Willows would be a fun reread!
My mom read it to me when I was a kid, I don’t remember much about it.
