What books do you read for escape? In today’s post, I will share a few destinations for your escape consideration.
10 Read For Escape Recommendations
What is an Escapist Read? I think about Escapist Reads the way I think about Beach Reads. Any book you read at the beach or by the pool is a beach or pool read. Any book you read during the summer is a summer read. I don’t read according to seasons, and you are as likely to find me reading a Christmas book in July as in December.
Likewise, any book I read to escape the challenges of my daily life is an escapist read. In fact, all books are escapist reads for me! Some are more escapist than others and are usually “low stakes” reads. They are not heavy reads in content or structure. I usually select a book that is easy reading (light women’s fiction, quirky characters, entertaining nonfiction essays, etc.). For escapist reads, I love to be entertained, relaxed, and not emotionally stressed when i truly read to escape.
I think anything can be an escapist read, and escapist reads are as varied as the readers. who read them.
What types of reads do you look for when choosing an escapist read?

I totally agree Carol. I love escaping within the pages of a good book!
What do people do who donโt read? ๐
What a lovely list, Carol.
Thanks Gina! ๐
Fun choices! Nice work.
Thanks Lisa! ๐
I like the way you think! I read โseasonalโ books year round, too.
Any book, any time! ๐๐
Some great choices here, Carol. I have read a few of them. I agree with you, everything I read is a great escape, so I didn’t do this one. I couldn’t just pick ten.
Thanks Carla! I just went with the first 10 that popped into my mindโฆ.every read is an escapist read! This is a deceivingly difficult prompt!
I haven’t read any of these Carol, and I feel in need of a good escape! You’ve just blown out my tbr even more! ๐คฃ๐๐๐
๐ I hope you find the perfect escapist read!
Project Hail Mary made my list too. Iโve added the Uncharted Flight of Olivia West to my TBR pile.
I hope you enjoy The Uncharted Flight! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Iโm hopping over now to read your post!
What a great list! I love how many different types of escapes you highlight. It’s fun to see Project Hail Mary on the same list as The Ladies Rewrite the Rules, but they both fit perfectly!
lol! Listing the first 10 to pop into my mind creates unpredictability!
An escapist book for me has to be one that transports me to another country. I love immersing myself in the details of the food and clothing.
Yes! So fun!
