I’m thrilled to share with you a list of my favorite books you can read in one day or one sitting! Do you see a favorite?

I’m linking up today with That Artsy Reader Girl for Top Ten Tuesday: “Books That Can Be Read in a Day.”
I love an occasional quick read: a book I can read in one sitting, one afternoon, one evening, or one day. These quick reads (novellas or short stories) balance out heavier more challenging reads but they can still pack a punch and are quite satisfying. I’ve listed a few of my favorites for you! (I’ve included the page count…which varies according to format)
If you’d love to discover more books to read in one day, you might also enjoy my Novellas in November post here.

Claire Keegan is such a good storyteller.
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
She really is! ๐
Some of these are favorites, especially 84, Charing Cross Rd, and Foster, but I wanted to mention another much shorter one—Amor Towles’ The Line, is 17 pages long. I could not find it on amazon, or on goodreads, but it is available on granta.com.
Oh thanks for the Amor Towles rec! Iโll look for it!
Claire Keegan has been very popular this week! I am always impressed by your graphics Carol.
Yes Iโve noticed her on many lists! Thanks Joanne!
I really enjoyed Signal Moon as well Carol!
Quinn is a superb storyteller!
How did I forget Our Souls at Night! Oh, what a wonderful book. And Truman Capote! What a good post!
Thanks Lisa! ๐
Our Souls at Night was so beautiful!! I haven’t thought about it in a while, but I’m so happy to see it here!
Itโs almost a classic! ๐
Interesting list. I haven’t heard of any of these but I will keep them in mind the next time I need a short book to read.
All tbr worthy!
Nice list. Will has to check some of these out.
Thanks!
Hi, Carol – I love books that I can read in a day = both for their page-turing quality as well as their length. From your list I have read A Christmas Memory, Our Souls at Night and The Deal of a Liftetime. To your list I would a book that I am currently reading, My Name is Lucy Barton (240 pages or 4 hours on Audio). I also recommend Call of the Wild, 232 pages, less than 3 hours on Audio.)
I enjoyed Oh William and Lucy By the Sea in the Elizabeth Barton series. Thanks for the recs!
I loved Foster, Carol. I haven’t read any of the others, but I definitely want to read ‘And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer.’ Great list! ๐๐
Thanks! I hope you enjoy Every Morningโฆ
Great list, Carol. I have read several of these and have a few more on my TBR. I might save them for November.
Thanks Carla! Itโs not too early to curate our Nov titles!
That’s true.
