Women Authors and Their Debuts
Background Image: Canva
I’m linking up with That Artsy Reader Girl but going rogue!
Do you have a favorite debut author?
Too many! Amirite?!
I’m going rogue today with Top Ten Tuesday because I want to acknowledge International Day of the Woman as part of Women’s History Month.
Publishing was a field for men. In publishing history, there was a time when women authors could not get published. Women were not allowed to sign their own contracts, did not receive equal pay, and were forced to write under pseudonyms. For International Day of the Woman, I’m focusing on modern women authors and their debuts as we celebrate those who fought hard for the right to be heard, sign their own contracts, and publish under their own name for equal pay.

This was a good theme to go rogue with! I have read a few of these and most of the rest are on my TBR. Clever choices!
Happy TTT!
Elza Reads
Thanks Eliza! 🙌
I’ve heard good things about Homecoming.

Homegoing is an impressive and ambitious debut!
Love this post. Such a great idea for today. I have loved everyone of Jane Harper’s novels.
I miss Faulk from the first 2 though! I had hoped he’d be a recurring character!
It means she isn’t restricted to one place though and I do love the different settings
True!
Great theme! I’ve only read Elinor Oliphant (and yes, I loved it) but have many of the others on my list. I confess I don’t pay much attention to whether a novel is a debut or not, but it’s true that a success can make a writer’s career at that point, and underrepresented authors need our support. I’ll have to keep that in mind.
I don’t always pay attention either, but I tend to notice more when debuts are so impressive like these! Thanks for commenting!
I dnf’d firekeeper! Too many untranslated words and she lost me at involving a teen in an FBI sting lol. I can see where people loved it though
I wonder if it is realistic for the fbi to use teenagers as CIs. I watch the FBI series on tv and some of their CIs are young!
Good idea if you want to go rogue in March. I was aware, too, that this is Women’s History Month and I want to acknowledge it by reading a strong women as MC book, so thanks!
So many strong women in histfic books! Try Code Name Helene or Invisible Woman…..great idea for going rogue again!
I love that you went rogue to acknowledge International Day of Women. What great choices, Carol.
Thanks Carla! 🙌
Wonderful post and author selection, Carol💜
Thanks Jonetta! 🙌
I love that you did women’s debuts in Women’s History Month.
Thanks! 🙌
I love a good debut! Firekeeper’s Daughter blew me away and Homegoing will always be a favourite.
You know how much I mean to read The Girl With the Louding Voice! I have also has A Place For Us on my shelves since it came out!!
So many impressive debuts! 🙌
Ah I loved Tweet Cute! When You Get The Chance was good too, but I haven’t read You Have A Match yet.
Of the 3, You Have a Match was my least fav. Loved the other 2 with Tweet Cute being the best!
I do love reading debuts, but it’s always interesting to see which ones end up being favorites and which don’t. Cassidy Clarke’s debut is one of my absolute favorite books!
Thanks for the rec and for commenting!
Such a nice idea for this week! I’ve not read any of these, but I am intrigued by Firekeeper’s Daughter because of that gorgeous cover.
My TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2022/03/08/top-ten-tuesday-358/
Thanks! 🙌I think you’d love Firekeeper’s Daughter!
I’ll definitely have to try it!
Great topic, especially considering what day it is. I read mostly women authors, not on purpose but just because they tend to write in the genres I like and in a style that appeals to me.
Happy TTT!

Thanks Susan!
You already know how much I love Girl With the Louding Voice. 🙂 Homegoing was good too – I’m looking forward to reading her most recent book.
Transcendent Kingdom is very different but I loved it! Enjoy!
This post is basically my TBR list. I want to read a bunch of these books. I loved Homegoing, and Eleanor Oliphant is really good too.
Each one is TBR worthy! 🙌 Enjoy!
I haven’t read any of these. I’ll have to look them up! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
They are all TBR worthy! I hope you find one to suit your taste!
