In 2020, I decided to systematically revisit my older review posts and update them. On Thursdays, I’ll be re-sharing a few of these great reads. Today, I’m re-sharing a thought provoking and compelling story, The Water Dancer by Na-Hehisi Coates.

My Summary:
“The Water Dancer tells the engaging and powerful story of Hiram Walker who is born into slavery and who has a mysterious and magical power. He is compelled to leave his home and adopted mother as he follows his rebellious spirit and searches for freedom. Hiram connects with the Underground Railroad, masters his mysterious power, and seeks to return home on his own terms to rescue his adopted mother and his love interest.”
A powerful story with page-turning action…

QOTD:
Have you read The Water Dancer or is it on your TBR?
Nice editing idea! My blog is 11, so I am using this meme once a month to revisit reviews posted ten years ago. I also edit the ones that I liked most, or which got most views. see here: https://wordsandpeace.com/2021/10/07/throwback-thursday-september-2011/
And on my way to your original review
I enjoy visiting past reviews….It’s like seeing an old friend! Thanks for commenting and leaving your link ..I’m hopping over now!
I definitely want to read this one, Carol!
It’s memorable! I hope you find a chance to read it Jennifer!
I’ve held back from reading this because of that mention about the mysterious and magical powers. I just can’t get on with anything ‘magical’
I hear you and feel the same….Although I didn’t 100% embrace it, it worked mostly in this story I think because it was connected to culture. From that perspective, it didn’t bother me.
I haven’t read this yet but it is on my TBR. I did read the author’s memoir, The Beautiful Struggle, which was amazing.
I hope you get to read this compelling story!
I’ve been curious s out this book! Great review.
Thanks! I hope you get a chance to read it!
I’ve heard really good things about this book!
Another one that is on my TBR. Great choice for a throwback, Carol.
