Happy National Book Lovers Day!
What are you reading today?
For National Book Lover’s Day I’m sharing twelve books I REALLY love, books that I could always reread, and books that are on my lifetime favorite’s list, and books that have received 5 star ratings. (in no special order):
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer
I love epistolary format and slow burn romance and quaint small villages by the sea.
Dearly Beloved by Cara Wall
I love stories with themes of faith and friendship.
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
I love well-written histfic with memorable characters inspired by real life heroes.
A Place For Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza
I love a multi-generational family story…and the father/son part at the end is heartbreaking and poignant and memorable.
The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson

The Last Bookshop in London by Madeline Martin
I love gently told histfic stories and books about books and slow burn romance.

I love beautiful endings and this story with themes of music, faith, and family has a memorable and beautiful ending.
The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Meissner
I love a mashup of genres and this story has a bit of everything I love: histfic (1906 San Francisco Earthquake), suspense/mystery, found family, women helping women, and a slow burn romance.
The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd
I love this histfic story based on real life sisters with themes of friendship, women’s rights, and abolition of slavery.
The Girl With the Louding Voice by Abi Daré
I love this inspirational story promoting equal educational rights for girls around the world.

I’m always prepared with book recs! LOL
Fabulous Carol and I totally agree that everyday is book lover’s day!
Thanks Nicki!
There are some great titles in your list Carol, thanks for the suggestions. I didn’t know it was National Book Lovers day, maybe it’s not an international thing? I agree with you, every day is book lovers day for me!
Thanks Debbie! I think I remember there’s an international day sometime during the year, too!
I have only read 4 of your favourites, Carol, so I have the remainder to look forward to. Thanks for the wonderful list!❤📚
You’re welcome Sandy! Happy reading!
Great selections, you certainly have a favourite genre!
Is it that obvious I’m hopelessly addicted to histfic! 😂😂😂
I didn’t know today was considered National Book Lover’s Day – otherwise I would have taken the opportunity to go to the bookshop instead of the boring supermarket. Oh well too late now.
Yeah to your selection of The Girl With the Louding Voice – fabulous book and one that will stay with me for a long time.
Guernsey Potato unfortunately counts as a book I didn’t enjoy at all.
I’m happy to hear we both enjoyed Louding Voice! In our hearts it’s always Book Lovers Day, so every day is a celebration! 😍🙌📚
You are my go-to person for historical fiction recs. I read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society when it was first released. I liked it so much better than the movie.
I started to read The Book Thief at least a dozen times but always put it down after around the 20-page mark. One of these days I need to persevere because everyone I know loves this book.
There’s a lovely movie for Book Thief, too!
I feel like every day is book lovers day in our lives 😂
Right?! 😍📚
If only we could have the day off today to just embrace reading!
Great idea! 🙌
Isn’t it great that we have our own day! Of course I read and love books everyday. I love your list. There are still three of these that are on my TBR but I have yet to get to them. For me, today I finished The Women’s March by Jennifer Chiaverini.
I have Women’s March on my TBR. Did you read Resistance Women by her?
No I didn’t read Resistance Women, Carol, but I know it was well written and a lot of people loved it. I hope to read it as well. I found Women’s March to be very informative, but a bit dry. I will be posting my review tomorrow hopefully.
Well…..Resistance Women is sort of that way, too. But I found the main character inspiring and she was married to Bonhoeffer’s cousin so that was interesting!
Considering the subject matter, it is hard not to be that way. I learned a lot though and did like it, just didn’t love it.
Great list and I’ve read most of them, thanks to you!! I just finished Sparks Like Stars last night. Did you recommend that one?? (can’t remember). Liked it so much– made me want to read more about Afghanistan beyond all that’s in the news now…
I’m happy we’ve read some of the same books! I reviewed Sparks Like Stars so maybe you did hear it from me. I’m thrilled to hear you enjoyed it. 🙌 Did you read The Pearl That Broke Its Shell by her?
Wonderful post Carol! And… you’ve reminded me to push “The Nature of Fragile Things” up my TBR queue. ♥
Thanks! I think you’d enjoy the small side of mystery/thriller! It’s a page turner!
I love this post! Great books, great reading pics. That one of the books piled in the red wagon is my favorite. I SO relate 🙂

Thanks so much Susan! 😍📚🙌
The Book Thief was one of my favorite books in middle school. I would love to revisit it as an adult.
I think it holds up to a reread! Have you seen the movie adaptation?
I’ve read several of these and enjoyed every one that I read. Great list.
Thanks Gayla! I’m thrilled to know we enjoyed some of the same books!
