As usual, most of the titles on my TBR are a result of the wonderful recommendations I receive from fellow bloggers or new books by favorite authors!
I never plan more than ten titles for my quarterly TBR lists because I need to leave time for mood reading and review commitments. These ten books are a priority on a much longer general TBR.
What is your most anticipated read this winter?
I’m linking up today with That Artsy Reader Girl for Top Ten Tuesday: Winter To Read List.
Winter 2020-2021 TBR
The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Meissner (Pub Date: February 2, 2021)
A new book from favorite author, Susan Meissner. I’m still waiting to see if I might receive an ARC.
***UPDATE: Yes! I received an arc! Great story….possibly Meissner’s best. My review of Fragile Things here.
The Narrowboat Summer by Anne Youngson (Pub Date: January 26, 2021)
I loved Meet Me at the Museum, so I’m eager to read the newest women’s fiction from Anne Youngson.
***Update: Still waiting for my library to purchase this….moving it to my spring TBR.
The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles (Pub Date: February 9, 2021)
This histfic is a rec from Modern Mrs Darcy and it sounds great!
***UPDATE: 4 Stars. A wonderful WW11 story of saving the library. My review of Paris Library here.
Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times by Katherine May
This NF memoir is another rec from Modern Mrs Darcy and it sounds great! Nicki @ The Secret Library Book Blog also loved it.
***UPDATE: 2.5 Stars. I didn’t love this as much as others have. (not reviewed)
The Winter Garden by Heidi Swain
This Christmas romance is a rec from Jo at The Book Jotter.
***UPDATE: Still waiting for my library to purchase this…might have to keep my eyes peeled for a kindle sale and save it for next December!
The Windsor Knot by S.J. Bennett
This murder/mystery is a rec from Jo at The Book Jotter and Nicki at The Secret Library Book Blog.
***UPDATE: Still waiting for my library hold. I’m moving it to my Spring TBR.
I Have Been Assigned the Single Bird by Susan Cerulean
This NF memoir is a rec from Annie B. Jones @ From the Front Porch podcast.
***UPDATE: Still waiting for my library hold. I’m moving it to my Spring TBR.
January Netgalley ARC Commitment
You Have a Match by Emma Lord (Pub Date: Jan 12, 2021)
I’ve read Tweet Cute and this new YA romance sounds good (another rec from Modern Mrs Darcy)
***UPDATE: 3 Stars. Cute but I liked Tweet Cute more. My review of You Have a Match here.
The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah (Pub Date: February 2, 2021)
A new histfic from Kristin Hannah, author of The Great Alone, The Nightingale, and The Winter Garden.
***UPDATE: I’ve decided NOT to read this book because I don’t think it’s a match for my personal tastes.
The Great Escape From Woodlands Nursing Home by Joanna Nell
I couldn’t resist a quirky, light, women’s fiction rec (with senior citizen rep) from Shelley at Book’d Out.
***UPDATE: 4.5 Stars. A very fun story! My review of Great Escape here.

Thanks for the shout out Carol, I loved Wintering as well! 😀
You’re welcome!
Yes I think I remember! I was trying to think whose review I read! I don’t always keep the best notes!
It was one of my mini reviews in the summer.
Oh ok! Can you send me the link?
It’s here: https://thesecretlibrarysite.wordpress.com/2020/10/13/mini-reviews-nonfiction-audiobook-reviews-gone-fishing-by-mortimer-whitehouse-and-wintering-by-katherine-may-gonefishing-wintering-audiobookreviews-nonfiction-memoirs-loveaudio-chloe/#more-24836
Thanks! I’ll edit and include it!
Thanks Carol that’s very kind! 🙂
🙌 my pleasure!
I’ll find your review and link to it! 👍
I have read both the Anne Youngson and the Joanna Nell, and they both wonderful Carol. I really want the Susan Miessner, but I haven’t been approved for her yet! Happy reading Carol. ❤📚
Thanks for the good reports on the Youngson and Nell!
I was declined on Netgalley for the Meissner (because Berkeley)…..but someone in an IG engagement group I’m in has a relationship with the publisher and got 30 widgets…I put my name in and I’m hoping I get one! It’s so hard to get books from Berkeley (for me anyway).
If you reviewed Youngson and Nell, send me the links and I’ll give you a mention in the post.

Thanks Carol. I loved both of these. ❤📚
Thanks! 🙌
The Narrowboat Summer is published as Three Women and a Boat in this part of the world. 😉❤📚
The Winter Garden is very good. I like the sound (and cover) of The Narrowboat Summer.
Thanks for the feedback! I was going to include your rec of Christmas With the Teashop Girls but I had difficulty finding it on Amazon. I’ll keep checking!
Wintering was an interesting read. Hope you like it.
My post.
Thanks! I’m hopping over now to read your post!
I have a few ARCs to read! I think my most anticipated is book 4 in a series I follow!
I love a great series! Enjoy!🙌
Now I want to read The Winter Garden as well.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Thanks for commenting and leaving your link. I’m hopping over now! Happy reading!
I’ve read and enjoyed Wintering, and I look forward to reading The Paris Library.
I’m really looking forward to Paris Library, too! Happy reading!
I should have put The Paris Library on my list! I have an ARC and it sounds really good.
It does sound good! Happy reading!
Oooo, I have The Windsor Knot on my list too!
It looks so good! Happy reading!
You too!
I’m looking forward to The Four Winds as well — and somehow, I didn’t have the new Susan Meissner on my radar, but I do need to read it! Her books are always so powerful. Great list — enjoy!
Love Meissner! And Four Winds should be good! Happy reading!
The Four Winds was very good, but also hard to read. I hope you enjoy it.
In what way was it hard? Content? Thanks for commenting!
Just the content. It’s hard in that it hits home and is sad. What you would probably expect from a Hannah book.
I’m still thinking about You Have a Match. Looking forward to your reviews on several others, too!
Thanks! The DNA topic is always intriguing. Happy reading!
I’m really looking forward to Four Winds. A lot of interesting books that I hadn’t heard of yet. I hope you get to all these!!
My Top Ten
Thanks! I hope we both enjoy Four Winds! I’m hopping over now to read your post!
I hope so too! I have been looking forward to it. 🙂
I’ve been wanting to read The Paris Library & The Windsor Knot too!
I hope we both enjoy them!
I’ve been looking for cold-weather books this winter!
I’m not sure how themed these books are!
Just went through your good list Carol – read the reviews on Amazon and added to my library request list! Most looking forward The Nature of Fragile Things. (we have kids in SF). thanks thanks!
Always eager for a new Meissner! Thanks for stopping in!
You have so many great reads ahead of you! The Narrowboat Summer didn’t quite make my list, but I’m really looking forward to it.
Thanks! I tried Met Me at the Musem so I was eager to try this one! Happy reading!
I’ve got an e-ARC of THE NATURE OF FRAGILE THINGS. I’m excited to read it – I just haven’t gotten to it yet. I did read THE FOUR WINDS. It’s sad, but it’s very atmospheric and thought-provoking. I learned a lot from it. YOU HAVE A MATCH is another one I’m looking forward to as well. So many great books! Enjoy.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Susan

I’m hoping for an arc of Fragile Things! I was on the fence about Four Winds for a while….so we’ll see how it goes! I’m hopping over to read your post now.
What a great list. I haven’t read any of them, but I am making notes here as I read to go and check them out.
Some great books coming out in 2021, therefore it must be a better year than this. And if not, we all just remain indoors reading all the great books.

2021 HAS to be a better year! What would we do without our books to read?! I’m hopping over now to read your post. Happy reading!
