Book Titles and Songs
I’m linking up today with That Artsy Reader Girl: Top Ten Tuesday: Book and Song Titles.
Do you like music?
I’m spinning this week’s TTT prompt a bit to highlight six books that have music as a theme, one title that reminds me of a song, and three book titles that would make great song titles.

6 Books With Music Themes
The Music Shop by Rachel Joyce
Frank is dedicated to preserving vinyl and owns a music shop in a run-down London neighborhood. His special gift is recommending just the right record or song for each customer. There’s a playlist, too! My full review of The Music Shop here.
The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom
As we follow Frankie through his life, we also hear about many music legends. Yes, there’s a playlist! My full review of Frankie Presto here.
The Chilbury Ladies’ Choir by Jennifer Ryan
As the men are called to action in WW11, the ladies of Chilbury resurrect the choir. My full review of Chilbury Ladies’ Choir here.
Musical Chairs byAmy Poeppel
Women’s fiction, complicated family drama, and a string trio. My Goodreads review of Musical Chairs here.
The Ensemble by Aja Gabel
A string quartet and four friendships. My review of The Ensemble in this post.
She Come By It Natural: Dolly Parton and the Women Who Lived Her Songs by Sarah Smarsh
How Dolly’s songs tie to Feminism and how they resonated with women of a certain generation and socioeconomic status. My review of She Come By It Natural here.
1 Book Title That Reminds Me of a Song
A Place For Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza
No music in this story but I kept thinking of the song “Somewhere” from West Side Story during my reading experience! My full review of A Place For Us here….spoiler….it’s my favorite read of 2018!
3 Book Titles That Could Be Song Titles
My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrik Backman
This title sounds like it could be a country song! (Not reviewed.)
South of the Buttonwood Tree by Heather Webber
This title sounds like it could be a fun children’s song! My review of South of the Buttonwood Tree here.
Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo
This sounds like it could be a fun song for children complete with hand motions. My review of Clap when You Land here.
QOTD!
Do you have music-themed book or a book title that would make a good song to add to this list?

It’s a fun one this week and not too difficult either!
We need more fun! 🙌😍
We certainly do!
Seems quite popular just now to have part of a song’s lyrics as a title. With the result that it’s stuck in your head all day! 😊🎶
Re A Place For Us….I heard an author interview and she said she didn’t even know the song and didn’t intend the association!
How is that even possible?? 🙂
Seems like an editor or beta reader might have made the connection!
Nice spin on the topic, Carol💜
Thanks Jonetta! 🙌
You did a wonderful job with this post!
My post.
Thanks! I’m heading over to read yours!
Great list – fun titles and way to separate them. I read and loved Ensemble and one that might fit with this list is Body & Soul by Frank Conroy about a little boy piano prodigy – loved it. With this theme it seems there is less duplication in the various posts – we’re all letting our playful side out! see mine: https://www.bookshelfjourneys.com/post/ttt-song-titles
Thanks for commenting and for the rec! I’m hopping over now to read your post!
Clap When You Land makes me think country music. I can imagine a song about waiting for a lover or something.
True! Thanks for commenting!
I love this! I thought My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry sounded like it’d be a Ben Folds song.
Thanks! That title has a lot of possibilities! 🙌
Love it! What a fun post!
Thanks Kym! 🙌😍
Oh this was great! I have The magic strings of Frankie Presto on my shelf, but haven’t read it yet.
Clap when you land sounds like a song we will teach the kids in Gr R – 3!! Love it.
I have done a Wednesday Wisdom post with Miss Benson’s Beetle and I’ve added your review. Still think it was beautiful!
Have a wonderful week.

Thanks for commenting and sharing my Beetle review! 🙌
These are great! Clap When You Land would make an excellent song title — I’m imagining it in my head already. I loved The Chilbury Ladies Choir. Great mix of musical books!
Thanks Lisa! 🙌
This is such a fun play on the theme! I’m definitely checking out The Chilbury Ladies’ Choir—I love books that focus on choirs and tightknit groups like that.
Enjoy! 🙌
Nice list. There are some where I’m awaiting a song soon. 😉
My TTT.
Thanks Marianne!
