Summary:
Natalie is in a job that doesn’t bring her joy and in a less-than-satisfactory relationship when a sudden tragedy strikes her life. Quickly, she finds herself managing her mother’s financially struggling quaint bookshop in San Francisco and caring for her dear ailing grandfather. Should she sell the shop? Should she place her grandfather in an assisted living facility? Should she walk away from the shop and her childhood memories and return to her job? Should she maintain the shop that she loves and has also been her family home? As she wrestles with grief and these life-changing questions, “Peach” Gallager and his young daughter, Dorothy, enter her life.
My Thoughts:
Engaging: I love books about books and bookshops and The Lost and Found Bookshop doesn’t disappoint! Although somewhat predictable, I found the story engaging, page-turning, and enjoyable as a weekend read.
Slow-burn Romance: Although at the beginning, there are some “insta-love” vibes, the story turns out to be a slow-burn romance which I think is more satisfying and realistic. However, romance is not the focus of this story.
Themes: The Lost and Found Bookshop has several thoughtful themes including grief, making life decisions, honoring and preserving the past, caring for a beloved grandfather, a second chance at love, lost and found, family secrets, and the healing power of books.
Recommended: I’m recommending The Lost and Found Bookshop for readers who love books about books and bookshops, for fans of family drama, and for those looking for a lighter read. I think there are thoughtful themes for book clubs, too! I will definitely add this one to my “books about books” list!

Thank you so much! 🙌
One of my favourite books set in a bookshop is Lost for Words by Stephanie Butland. It’s wonderful.
Yes I’ve read that and agree! 🙌
Wonderful review Carol. I enjoyed this one for all the same reasons. I will have to check out Lost for Words mentioned above.
Thanks Carla!
