I love family-centered stories and especially ones that include grandparents!
Several countries around the world celebrate Grandparents Day on a variety of dates….this Wikipedia post lists some of the countries and dates.
Forget-me-not flowers are associated with National Grandparents Day.
Today, September 13 is National Grandparents Day in the United States. To celebrate, I’ve collected several books which feature grandparents (or grandparent-like figures) as main characters. Do you have a title to add to this list?

Great post. I can’t think of another book than Hillbilly Elegy at the moment but I’m sure I’ve read some that would fit into your list.
I don’t really know anyone personally who was brought up by their grandparents but I think it is something most grandparents would do if their kids were not able to look after their children.
One of my friends ended up adopting her grandchild. And my adult daughter and my 6 yo grandson live with us, so I feel like we’re a big influence in his life! Being a grandparent is the best! 🙌
I have a high school friend who adopted her granddaughters after her son and DIL lost their parental rights due to drug addiction. They were amazing with those girls! And it’s something I saw a good deal of when I volunteered as a Child Advocate in Houston. I have a lot of admiration for grandparents who take on that responsibility.
Yes! Grandparents save so many children! My best friend adopted her grandson under similar conditions.
Grandparents are important and great teachers.
I love this post Carol. A lot of the cozy mystery series I read have grandparents playing an integral role in the main characters lives.
Oh that’s interesting! I don’t read a lot in that genre. I know there are more books…These came to mind and I was satisfied at 10, but I’d like to keep adding to the list!
