Is it just Macmillan or other publishers doing it?

I’m not sure….I was under the impression it was widespread but it could be that Macmillan are the leaders? I did read on FB yesterday that a rather large library on the east coast is encouraging libraries not to even buy the one ebook from Macmillan and to boycott them.

Good for them!!

It’s just Macmillan, but the fear is that, if it proves successful, the other Big Five will impose embargoes, too.

Hopefully it won’t be successful.

When I first read about this I couldn’t believe how ridiculous it was. Libraries are not a threat to people buying books. This is simply greed at its finest.

Terrible news Carol thanks for sharing it.
Readers who can afford to will buy books while readers who depend on the library won’t. A sad day for literacy. 💔

That’s the word that came to my mind: GREED 😢
Terrible decision on many levels. What a shame they are doing this. 😕
Very greedy I think! There has to be another way to generate sales!
Thanks for sharing this Carol.
You’re welcome!
This is awful news. So elitist of Macmillan.
Yes!

Thanks Nicki!
Such a sad turn. You’d think they’d learn from Penguin’s disastrous policy years ago when they blocked new ebooks from libraries.
I just read that a library is calling for a boycott of Macmillan……to not even buy that one allotted ebook! So sad!
