September Reading Wrap Up

September was a mixed result reading month. Three DNFs had me spinning my wheels and took time away from the number of books I wanted to read. I read a total of six books, and I am happy to report that one of those was a five-star read. Find all my September reads listed below in order of Star Rating. Keep in mind that I normally recommend five- and four-star reads on the blog; three-star reads receive mixed reviews from me for various reasons; and two-star reads are books that were not for me (this month brought me one of these). One star reads are usually shelved as DNF.
My favorite read of the month is The Dearly Beloved; in fact, it will likely be my best read of the year.

Belgravia by Julian Fellowes
3 Stars. An OK read but not memorable. Not yet reviewed.

2.5 Stars. Dysfunctional Family Drama. Not to my taste. Goodreads review.

I thought Belgravoa was a bloated turkey of a book published only because of its author. Bored me silly and I love historical fiction. I liked Lager Queen fir what it was–a light read.
Ha ha! I was so bored with Belgravia and its privileged characters and their “problems.” It was an interesting peek at the times and women’s roles/expectations etc!
At first I liked Lager Queen… then I started wishing the characters were more likeable….and then it was a slippery slope to not caring! I’m discovering that I do need some likable characters to enjoy the read!

Sounds like a fantastic month of reading, despite the 3 DNFs, Carol. With those thoughts on The Medallion you’ve definitely made me want to visit a historical fiction now hahaha

I loved The Dearly Beloved too. Just finished it last night. And while I finished The Last Romantics, it was just good enough that I didn’t put it down. I have Hum If You Don’t Know The Words by Bianca Marais on my TBR stack now. I love seeing everyone’s list from MMD Quck Lit.
