Remembering My Dad on U.S. Father’s Day
My dad was promoted to Heaven on Father’s Day, 2009. He was a great man and excelled in many areas: farming (in his early years), pastor, theologian, professor, and writer. He was an avid reader and prolific writer, writing at least 30 books (most of them for his theology classes at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California). In retrospect, I wish I had asked him to make a list of his favorite books for leisure reading. I do know that he enjoyed poetry.
What the Dad in our house is reading this week.
I’m fortunate that my husband, who is the father of our three amazing children, is a reader! One of his favorite books is The Road to Character by David Brooks. His current read is a new release by Brooks, and my husband has lots of thoughts and reflections on The Second Mountain by David Brooks. that I wish I could convince him to share in a review! Beautiful post, Carol! What a tribute to your dad. I love that he was a writer (and reader). Also hope someday you can convince your hubby to write a review. Maybe you could transcribe his thoughts?! My dad is a reader and I bought him The Prince of Tides for Father’s Day. It’s the only Conroy book that slipped by him unread until now. ♥️
Oh I wish I could get my hubs to review a book…he’s been talking in my ear all morning about his current read! 😂
