Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Historical Fiction Books I Read During Each of the Last 10 Years
I’m linking up today with That Artsy Reader Girl for Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Books I Read in Each of the Last Ten Years. Once I started curating my list, I realized that the majority of titles were historical fiction (no surprise!), so I’m tweaking the prompt to list my favorite historical fiction reads in each of the last ten years. This is a difficult task, but it’s fun to reminisce. Some years it was too difficult to choose only one. Many years I have favorites that are not historical fiction and I decided to save those for another list.
For this list, I have simply chosen a memorable book for each year. This list doesn’t represent the best of all the books I’ve read in the last ten years.
Most of these titles were read in the year they were published, but some are back list titles.

Great books! I thought News of the World was just amazing. Perhaps the reason I have not yet picked up The Nightingale despite rave reviews is that it concerns the war. I know I should read it and it is my loss so far.
Thanks Diana! News of the World was beautifully written! I recommend it all the time! My hubs loved it too and we’re eager for the movie with Tom Hanks! The Nightingale has a harsh section re the concentration camp years that I thought was especially difficult to read.
I didn’t know that News of the World would be a movie starring Tom Hanks. Exciting news!
Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 that it’s still in the works! These things take years! I thought the entire time I was reading it that it would be a great movie and my hubs and I would sit and discuss who should be cast!

It was difficult to put together because before 2017 I wasn’t carefully tracking my reading.

I love THE SECRET KEEPER. I’ve read all of Kate Morton’s books and it’s my favorite of the bunch. I also adore THE NIGHTINGALE. What a sweeping, moving novel! I wish the author would write more books like that.

I hear a lot about Salt to the Sea and it sound interesting… although the title is kinda weird.

I love historical fiction, but my era is somewhat earlier than many of your books. Medieval history and the Tudors is what appeals to me the most, and I love novels that are based on historical figures. Jean Plaidy and Phillipa Gregory are two of my favourite writers.
