August Wrap Up
Zero books were rated 5 star reads this month, but The Map of Salt and Stars came close and I consider it my best read of the month.
These Wrap Up posts are published with some trepidation because I’m concerned you might think that I’m recommending all these books. Please carefully notice my Star Ratings. Generally, I can confidently recommend 4 or 5 star reads, and I usually consider 3 star reads OK.
I’ve listed my August reads in order by my Star Ranking and my level of enjoyment. Titles are Amazon affiliate links and review links (blog or Goodreads) are also provided.
As always it’s OK to disagree! You might see a favorite that I’ve awarded 2 Stars or I might have rated a book high that you disliked…..Reading is a personal experience and each book makes a unique connection with the reader. Take my star ratings as simply one opinion.

Hi Carol!! You are such a prolific reader!! I don’t know how you do it! Noting down some books to look for at the library — already have read the Kelly Corrigan books– liked her very much for being so relatable and funny and warm. Wish she had a strong faith to carry her through because I do care about all she’s gone through… Thanks for another of your intriguing lists! xox

Yep, I get that Carol. I list pretty much everything I read on my blog book list. And there’s several books this year I wouldn’t urge people to read. But it’s nice to know about them!! thanks for all the book news!! xox
I never set out to read a 2 or 3 star book! I always think I’ve read reviews carefully and filtered my reads but reading is personal and one can never predict one’s reaction!
Interesting. Yep, I almost never pick a random book off the library shelf– depend on other people’s recommendations. But I think you’re right about personal reactions. Sometimes a friend loves a book and I don’t like it as much. Anyway, thankful for your insightful reviews!! xo
When someone doesn’t love a book I’ve loved it kinda hurts my heart a little! But I certainly understand! It makes for interesting discussion! Are you finished with A Place For Us?
I’m half way through A Place For Us– but took a break to read the Shannan Martin book– so I could post it on my Instagram/facebook. Now I’m back at it. So far liking it a lot– good family dynamics story… We’re driving 8 hours home from SF tomorrow– so car reading time!! xox
